Brian,
Firstly I want to say what an amazing program this is (now that I am finding my way around it)
I am busy setting things up for my artist's to sell their music as a complete album download.
If there was one thing I wanted for christmas it would be to automate the paypal buy button with an encription process so that when they add an item to thier store they could also input thier return url for thier customers to access thier downloads after payment.
Can this be done?
Cheers
Kirk
Great program I have only one suggestion for parental advisory songs before they get play the user has to input their age. I know this wont stop anyone from giving a fake one but atleast it'll keep some people off our backs..

Weed files are another way for Indie Artits to market their songs and get payed.
Please consider Weed files in the next upgrade for inclusion in the Music section of the artits/band.

For us, pay pal is not a big deal as we use an irish company realex for this, far cleaner. We would love to see an option to add ones own payment gateway rather than only having the paypal option.
Other than than video streaming is a big one for us.
Would you also please consider adding an option so that we can see the username associated with the artist name in the admin panel? That way it would be easier to change account passwords since believe it or not many people forget both their username and passwords and since the jamroom logs are flooded I sometimes have to manually create a new user. It would be a lot easier if we could see the username added with the account so we can simply change the password. Another plus would be to see what the person's username is on the jamroom forum username insert since 99% of the people have a username that is different then their artist name.
Could you also add the same popup for the logout button for uploading songs link, stating to make sure their song file is xx size and that it is their own work (or a config where we can add a message of our own there)
I think that the WEED File Sharing system is going to be big, and if there's no other big competition for what it does, I think it will lead the way in which music is distributed.
For Jamroom, I think it would be really, really advantageous for your script, for you and for future users of your script if it was designed to work with WEED files easily and conveniently for the artists, and the website owner, as MP3s are.
In addition, the Statistical features of Jamroom must then provide statistics for these files... so that they are being accounted for as MP3s are now being accounted for by Jamroom.
There are probably a lot of things to be done about this but right of the bat,
I think the items above would be the most urgent.

Hi Guys,
Some of you have suggested fantastic features, so I will keep my input short:
Localization I
There are still some parts in Jamroom that could/should be moved to the language files, for example in admin.php: "are you sure you want to logout" / the "add event" etc. buttons. I know it's not a big deal, so far I've just translated the text strings directly in the php file - but it's a pain in the butt because I need to re-do it after every update.
Localization II
In calendar.php it would be nice if we were able to choose the time format (12hr vs. 24hr). my artists get confused with am/pm because this is not known over here. It's not a big deal, so far Ive just translated the strings directly.... (see above)
Quota Based Max. Song Bitrate
I don't know if this is something that other people would like too, but I really like the idea of being able to define different max. song bitrates based on the artist quota. so all my free accounts would allow a max. bitrate of 96, but my paying supporters could go up to 192...
Different default image for songs and artists
this has been suggested several times I and would be the happiest little bunny in the forest if this would go into JR 2.20. I know that there's a mod for this, but I am having trouble with different file formats (png, gif, jpg).
More interaction between visitors and artists
I strongly vote for any feature that will increase interaction on the site, e.g. the guestbook, song reviews etc.
User Groups with different rights (sorry, as this is very specific to my situation - I don't really expect this to happen)
I've integrated JR with phpBB security, so only registered forum members can download songs - you don't need to register to stream songs. But there's one problem I can't solve: Every visitor can rate songs, but I only want a certain user group to be able to rate artists. This is not possible because all the rating is done by rating.php, therefore I cannot use phpBB security for this.
why would I want to do this: I want all my visitors to be able to rate songs, but I want to make artist ratings only available to promoters who have booked an artist - so they can give a feedback on the artists performance/behaviour after the gig. this would help other promoters to find the right DJ. (yepp, we're doing dj stuff, not bands)

how about during sign up, location and other fields are mandatory with the option to upload logo then and there so that theres not imcomplete profiles....
more questions should be asked on the sign up page too. collect more and make most mandatory....
That all i can think, its great as is and cant wait to see it at 2.20

I'd like to see global rules for theme creation...
Like, all index pages be index. and all store pages must be store. etc, etc...
I don't like that store links go to the artists home page and not to the artists store...but there's nothing that can really be done about it
I've been going through the old themes and trying to upgrade them, and change them to all have common values so I can fix the links to be more tight...

How about ., . . . . . . .
a 3rd upload option, this option would be used only for special users, and would have the ability to upload zipped or rarred files that hold the components of the song ready for Remix,. or like a storage bay of the parts used to write the song
This way the producer or band could back up there bits they used to write the song
lke "song1.zip" would have snips of samples, midi files etc all zipped up as one
that would be oh sooo cool me thinx

good idea johny! Except I think it will become virus haven... I did see a function to do something like that with phpBB though Maybe brian could figure out something on that...I was going to add something like what you're saying too...
Maybe a colaborations area where musicians can upload tracks rather then .zip's. Then the other musicians can preview the tracks before downloading and remixing... Also, a way for the musicians to upload files for eachother would be cool. Like if I download a sample from your site and make edits, I'd want to send what I've done back to you...
Also, I wish that jamroom would add the genre that the user specifies in jamroom -into the mp3 tag

djmerlyn mate , id like to collab but id like to include some of the files needed to remix the track, even if they were in .wma files it would work, im sure most of us nowadays bounce parts of our tracks down to samples so maybe like a strict .midi and a strict .wma upload filter would do it ,maybe an upload limit of 10 mb say per track ,with a page after "Radio" on the artist page called "Remix" only visible to selected registered members ?
Could you please consider adding an option that allows us to select more then one song at once for deletions? Some Artists upload 50+ songs and when they cancel their subscription for premium service I have to select each song one by one to delete them. It would be cool if we could hold down contrl key like you have with the stations or something similar to that.
