whodaniel, I made some changes while I was setting this app up and FB was giving me errors too.

I removed the app from my facebook profile and re-added it. That took care of the problems for me.

Your link looks good, and the if statments should be fine the way they are.

Rick

rickallen:

If you are using the Nova theme, it is in theme_footer.tpl.

Here is the what I have working on my site:

Code
            {if $SONG_COUNT > 0}
            <br><img src="{$JAMROOM_URL}/skins/Nova/images/fbico.png" alt="{jr_lang id="505" default="Support This Artist on Facebook"}" class="n_outline"> <a href="http://apps.facebook.com/????/change.php?band_name={$BAND_NAME}">{jr_lang id="505" default="Support This Artist on Facebook"}</a>
            {/if}

I added the lang variable to my lang file and created a little facebook icon. Change the ???? part to match your settings for the application.

Hope this helps.

Just to add a small addition to rickallens code which i have now included in the install docs.

Code
            {if $SONG_COUNT > 0}
            <br><img src="{$JAMROOM_URL}/skins/Nova/images/fbico.png" alt="{jr_lang id="505" default="Support This Artist on Facebook"}" class="n_outline"> <a href="http://apps.facebook.com/????/change.php?band_name={$BAND_NAME|urlencode)
}">{jr_lang id="505" default="Support This Artist on Facebook"}</a>
            {/if}

This will urlencode special characters such as ? and * for example

Cool

So.. I'm having a hard time understanding what this module does..

It is not a player that gets uploaded on the FB page..
but rather a photo of the artist with a link to his profile...
It makes it easier to add artists links as friends on your wall (that users want to support)..

It does this dynamically.. Yes?

It's not a player at all.. The link, takes you to the profile, and the player in the profile, is used to stream the file.. Am I missing something..

American, Please try adding the app to your facebook and you will see the play buttons on your wall that will stream your Jamroom songs directly from Facebook.

I'll try and upload some screenshots later on to explain further, but as long as you have actually clicked on either my initial application link or the michigan one. Added a band and gone to your wall you will see.

This app is basically a slightly more basic (currently) version of the popular reverbnation facebook app, but for jamroom.

You ARE missing something, did you add the application to your facebook wall?

My app is working great. It adds a box to my facebook profile page with the artist picture, list of songs from the artist with play buttons. The play buttons work fine and any facebook user viewing my profile can play the songs.

Facebook does not allow a user to paste code in your profile. They do not even have an html editor on there when you type something. The only way to get outside content into facebook that I know of is to have a facebook app that allows it. That is what this is.

Facebook is the hottest thing on the net for now at least. The chances are pretty high that visitors to my site have a facebook page.

This is kinda on topic, so hopefully you all will forgive the advertisement. There is an App coming out in like the next few days, that will allow people to add fully customizable pages to their Facebook profiles. I think it is going to go viral in a huge way. Here is the link to sign up for the affiliate program: https://www.hubze.com/signup/?referredBy=dphi

Back to the main topic here; Famboom Rocks! I did notice though, that for some of the playlists that are displayed in the profile boxes, the box seems to short. It would be nice if their could be a scroll bar. Is that possible?

A scrollbar for artists with lots of songs is planned (assuming it is possible on facebook) and also sorting of the songs in the same order as has been set in Jamroom.

Glad people are getting on well with the app.

As there still appears to be some confusion over what the app does. Here are some screnshots of some of the more important sections.

Player Screen, that is embedded into the left side of your facebook profile (just below friends)

Wall updates get posted to your status wall and onto other friends feeds (viral)

Artist select screen, where you select which artist profile you want on your facebook profile and connect with other users

Hopefully that should clear things up.

I second and third this.......
No but on a serious note, this is one of the best things that has happened to my jamroom since installation.
Everything works fine, My facebook profile visitors can stream any artist i have displayed on my wall and they can also install the application, display and support their artists.
I already have members using this tool and have been giving good reviews on it.
American i think all you need to do is install this application on your facebook and play around with it,
Its pretty basic like famboom said but still works fine.
Cheers.

yeah, I noticed that it did not reflect the song order. I set a song not to be shown in an Artist's profile, but it still showed in the FB thingy.

What would I have to do for now to get it not to show that song, delete it in JR?

And while its on my mind; I would really like to see the "facebook connect" function added to this Mod, to allow people to sign into a JR with their FB log in. Also, could not a "share" button be added?

Cheers!
Very Happy
