The "Jamroom Development Lab" has been busy lately Wink

I have just added the latest Jamroom 4 module - the "Jamroom PayPal Pro module" to the Jamroom 4 modules page:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_market&o=browse&category=Jamroom+4+Modules

This is an advanced Payments module for PayPal Pro, that really streamlines the entire checkout process. Here's a couple of screenshots showing the new checkout screen, as well as the module config screen:

This module has the following requirements:

  • You must be running the Jamroom Payment Pack
  • You must have a PayPal Pro account (open to US, Canadian and UK customers)
  • You must have an SSL enabled website (supported by JBServers)
  • You must be able to set your IPN Return URL in your PayPal account if you want to use subscriptions - if your PayPal IPN return URL us currently set to something else that you cannot change, then susbscriptions will not work (this is due to PayPal not currently allowing the return URL to be set in the PayPal Pro subscription NVP call).

The module design (checkout, subscriptions) is all based on templates and can be designed to suit your needs - by default it will style itself based on your Control Panel skin. It also features automatic payouts for your profiles - this finally enables a fully "hands off" approach to the payment/vault system.

I'm really excited to finally release this module, as I think the larger sites out there trying to "streamline" the entire checkout process will really benefit from this setup.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to post to this thread.

I hope you enjoy the new release!

- Brian

This is slick! Good work Big Guy. How would the micro payments work with this? Would I need pro on both paypal accounts?

Yes you would - although I'm not sure if PayPal charges twice for this or not - I'd recommend contacting PayPal to be sure.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. I'd probably just go with my micro payments account if they charged double.

Perhaps a bit silly: But which account type is "Pro" exactly?

On paypal.com the account types are Personal, Premier and Business...
Is it Premier or Business?
Respectively can I use this module with an Business account?

i love the idea of paying out profiles on auto...instead of exporting, etc...

Pretty sure it doesn't work without PayPal Webpayments Pro. I could be wrong.

The monthly fee kills it for me. At $30 a month you would need to be doing a lot of transactions to offset it. Great addition to the JR arsenal.

"On average, Website Payments Pro is 16% less expensive than other credit card processors.1 Pay nothing more than a low transaction fee and a $30 monthly fee."

That would be far more expensive at small turnovers. Stick with Paypal until you know that you will save money by changing to a different processor.

I might be wrong, but I think that you need a site turnover of $1500 a month for a Paypal Pro account to be viable?

All I'm trying to find out is,

what can this mod do for me, if I DONT have paypal pro,
just the business account,

and what features do I lose out on if I don't have pro...

Jus wondering if I could still get something outta this mod even if I don't have pro

thanks

I don't have time right now to go into what the pro accounts offer, but you cannot use the PayPal Pro module without having a Pro account:

Hope that helps!
