Preventing Duplicate Accounts

I'd like to know how to prevent duplicate accounts by recording the IP address in the database. Is this possible? If so, how?

Can it be done by simply adding a new table to the database with the records of each IP address that's being registered or do we need to edit a specific table from the JamRoom database?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

You would probably need a custom module to do this with a separate table, and a hook into the signup.php script.

Don't most DSL customers have dynamic IP addresses anyway?
