Hello The Jamroom Universe!!,

Here is a concept im playing with right now and I need your input.

Im thinking that screencasts could be a useful tool in helping others get to know how to use the modules I build.

Right now the modules I have released are:
I think that videos can help convey how to use the modules better than pages and pages of writing, but Im pretty new to screencasting and need your input.

Take a look at the ones that I have done so far along with the rest of the site and I would love to hear feedback.

Im still on the 30day free trial of camtasia, (the software that makes the screencasts) and the damn thing costs $300 bucks. So if there is enough interest, im planning to buy it and make some screencasts for the subscribers. The goal is to get a couple of new screencasts a month up. In the control panel area there is a "Request Screencast" and a voting system, so request and vote.

If you have any feedback, then lets use the 'Apicos' section of the Jamroom forums.
Apicos section of jamroom forums link

If there is interest I think we can cover topics like:

  • The Quotas System
  • Editing the templates
  • How to locate anything you need to update
  • building a module

(These are what I think people are interested in, but I need your input to know for sure.)

Please take a look at the site I have just finished setting up to house the screencasts. Apicos Jamroom Screencasts

Sounds good to me i put yes not sure if i would pay for it due to my cuirrent situation butmay down the road, obviously i would be interested if free and it sounds like a good idea i was also thinking you can do site specific screen casts also which shows users how to get around certain sites im not sure how much that would cost per site but i thinki it would be nice to send to my useres upon signup.Just another wy to get your money back more on an individual basis.

Hi James,

Nice idea. I wasnt thinking along those lines. I know Caper made some tutorials for jamroom owners to show to their users.

http://www.jamroom.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16748&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=video&start=15

I was thinking for the target audience would be owners of jamroom sites and show all the features.

(mainly I was thinking to display all the features of my modules first, but since Camtasia is so expensive, I thought it would be good to get some use out of it after that.)

--edit--

Did you go to my site and watch any of the videos? any thoughts?
This is the only series up at the moment:
