Very Happy

I followed the steps given by Kyle to another user in 2009. Well, just one step, adding that line to .htaccess, it seems that is a server PHP issue, as he explained.

My settings:

- Enviromental settings > Entity encoding: UTF-8

- Advanced settings:

jr_db_charset = utf8
jr_db_collate = utf8_unicode_ci

- All my tables in DB are set to utf8_unicode_ci

- Line added to .htaccess: php_value default_charset utf-8

In fact, changing the .htaccess file was the only thing I´ve changed, the other settings was given by default.

That worked for me. Now, the spanish characters -á é í ó ú ñ- are correctly displayed throughout.

Very Happy

I have same problem , but in my case, I'm using ISO-8859-2 for POLISH letters encoding , NOT utf-8. All was good in 4.1.x version. Version 4.2 makes some changes in message.php , photo.php etc. and than I must to use older version of this files.

BUT my database collation is utf8_general_ci . I change this to latin2 , utf8_polish_ci, utf8_unicode_ci , changing in enviroment entity encoding (ISO-8859-2, ISO-8859-1, UTF-Cool , and changes in advance settings (jr_database_charset , jr_database_collation) . And ALWAYS if I want to save word: "Coś" I can view after save word: "CoÂś" . I checked with MANY options (more than 50 configutations...) and always problem is the same .

Making changes with .htaccess file as wrote user before for me doesn't make any good effect ..

Maybe anyone knows how to resolve this problem?

For example: letter "ś" is viewable as "Âś" . And all polish letters has  before good letter. Please, help... Wink

And one more thing: this problems is ONLY when I'm using CONTROL PANEL after upgading to 4.2 (adding newses, images etc.) . When I'm writing (for example comments) in other places, all with encoding are OK . So the problem MUST be with new changes in message.php, photo.php etc. from 4.2 version . Maybe new version of JR are working ONLY with UTF-8 charset ...?

=======

UPDATE: IF I TURN OFF PROGRESS METER , ALL IS OK .
So i think, the problem is new progress meter, which adding? charset problems .

So, is it possible to use OLD PROGRESS METER with JR 4.2.X ? I really need this feature...

Is located in root directory, at the same level of compile, config, skins, etc..

For security reasons, sometimes this file is hidden. I have no problems viewing it with Filezilla software.

If you can't find it, maybe you would need to search the forum, there are several topics about it.

Bye!

Unfortunately it is not possible - what issues are you experiencing with the new progress meter?

Kyle

I have a problem with polish characters with ISO-8859-2 encoding. When Progress Meter (new) is enabled, characters in database is saving in wrong charset.
