I am currently working on a new theme.

{$_USER.user_nickname} works great on skin but its fails on theme.

I see Nova is using this variable on both skin and theme and its working flawlessly.

Am I missing something on theme that {$_USER.user_nickname} is not working?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It won't work in themes - $_USER is only available in skin templates. If you look at Nova, it is loading skin templates into div's using an AJAX call, so $_USER is available.

humm....thanks for the reply.

is there any advantage on using themes. seems like its creating more issues than help. i mean why not create artist profiles using just skin template.
