Integrating my Appbuilder platform with Proxima

Proxima

Thanks for sharing this Mick - is this something you've created yourself or is it based on another product? If you have a link to the product I can look it over and give you some feedback.

Thanks!

Bluehost blank screen

Installation and Configuration

blindmime:
Well, that really couldn't be any easier. I've transferred two sites now. One with 36,000 profiles. Very smooth. Kinda fun. It's so easy that I did the second one while I was doing something else. I didn't even read the documentation (just discovered it).

I was hesitant over email since I'm used to cPanel and setting up emails for many domains, but once you set up mailgun once, setting up email on jamroom is actually much easier. Just type in the email you want and where you're forwarding it and that's it.

And, of course, the websites now feel very fast.

Thanks, Jamroom!

Awesome - welcome aboard :)

YouTube Video Gallery Scheduling

Suggestions

johnchansa:
Agreed...In fact you have mentioned to me before about adherence to YouTube's TOS as regards JPlayer(No hacks etc.)

But the "YouTube Video Gallery Scheduling" script ,IMO, is not very different from whats there in JR5.Apart from the scheduling feature,it uses normal YT embed code.I had a feel of the demo and the admin panel is similar to the "embed local media" dialog box in JR5.

It's these similarities which made share the info with you guys.I wish I could develop a JR module but that's beyond me.

That's great - thanks for the tip - I've marked this as "user tip". Just wanted to be sure you knew WHY we do not support playing youtube videos through the JR players.

Thanks!

Global config tabs not updating

Design and Skin Customization

We use this literally in hundreds of places in Jamroom, so I know for certain it works. All of our skins are setup this way. I would just double check that you have correctly inserted the right code in the config.php file. Maybe paste here what you have added? Did you use the correct skin directory name in the jrCore_register_setting() function call? it should be like:

jrCore_register_setting('SkinDir', $_tmp);

Where SkinDir is the DIRECTORY of your custom skin.

A more Powerfull Event Module

Suggestions

Luis456:
That is what I referring too, I'm sorry but I think you guys are more development focus than customers. You need to give customer options and make it as simple as possible. Just think that not all your customers are developers.
Your team need to provide options for your client. For example, you want a simple module here it is it cost this much. You want a more advance module with features here it is and its cost this much. You need a module or template that is more social news, or entertainment related, here it is.

This is exactly how we do things. JR5 is designed to be easy to use for the common use case. What you have to realize however is that NO two sites want the same thing. This feature (ticket selling) is obviously important to you, but it's not important to the other 99% of our users - literally, no one asks for this. I created a ticket selling module for JR4 and almost no one used it.

So in this case if this feature is something you would like, it would be something we would do as a sponsored "feature" upgrade for this module - i.e. you would pay for the custom development work done on it. It would be cheaper than normal custom development because it's something that would be available to ALL users after it was done (we don't do any "exclusive" development).

I don't know how big your company it is, but I thinks you need to have a resource focus on developing modules, templates in order to provide more options to your clients.

We are a small 4 man team that also tries to lead lives offline, so we do our best.

Sorry if I sound frustrated - we just get these types of posts form time to time from users who are upset that Jamroom does not meet their needs 100% "out of the box".

I think it is important to think of Jamroom as a site development platform - it will get you 90% of the way there, but that last 10% is stuff that is unique to YOUR site - and that is going to take work on your part (or hiring someone to do it for you) to get it to 100%.

Paul has opened a ticket on this, so after we research the type of work that would be needed to add this feature in I believe he will be in contact with you.

Thanks!

Unwanted HTML gap/space

Using Jamroom

This is what I get pasting in what you have posted (see screenshot). I've made some small tweaks in the HTML "cleanup" code that I'm hoping will help out any stray newline/return characters, because that can be dependent on the OS and browser used. We'll have the new beta core out tomorrow, so let's see if it helps you.

See all users' timeline mentions

Using Jamroom

iamtimbo:
On your own page, you can see your timeline or your mentions. When you visit someone else's profile, you can't choose the 'mentions' option. Is that changeable?

Right now this is an option just for the profile owner - we can check it out though.

Thanks!
