5 Gig Ning Site

5 Gig Ning Site This is the Jamroom Ning Import service for Ning sites with a Ning Archive up to 5 Gigs in size. The Ning Import Service includes:

- Ensuring your Jamroom site is fully setup for handling your Ning Import. If you have purchased the Ning Bundle this includes ensuring the Ning Bundle is all setup and configured properly in your Jamroom.

- Running the Ning Importer on your Jamroom site and ensuring everything is imported properly

- the use of the Jamroom Network Conversion Service during import to properly convert all Ning audio and video to the proper formats for use in Jamroom

The Jamroom Ning Import service is designed for users migrating from Ning who want to ensure their Ning data gets imported and configured to run optimally in Jamroom.

IMPORTANT!

If you are NOT using Jamroom hosting, make sure you have pre-purchased either Premium or Professional package:

https://www.jamroom.net/products

to ensure your Jamroom install has the modules needed to replicate your Ning site!

Hi... can you scope out the JR site I have set up using the Ninja skin, and then advise on what kinds of changes I might need make before importing from the Ning site?

This might be an extra step that needs to be paid for, I expect, as I have two sites - the original Ning 2.0 site, and my prototype Jamroom site. I am not urgently needing to do this, but am interested in the procedure.

is this the Ningja skinned site on your Jamroom hosted server? Its looking good as far as I can tell but don't know your original Ning site so as to compare, but as long as all Ning content is being shown somewhere on the Jamroom site I'd say you ware good to go.
Are you wanting us to do the final import for you? If so, purchase this service and we'll get it scheduled in.
Thanks

Hi Paul,

Thanks. I am still thinking about this.

My Nng site is at researchcooperative.org
1. Is it possible to do an import, but leave the source Ning site running while the JR site remains unannounced and is refined with the new content? If I did this, I would remove the JR site from public view.

2. After importing all member details from a Ning site, and can we then check which email addresses are active using the JR system... and then contact just those active addresses to announce the changeover.

This way, we can know that if there is no response, it is not just because the address no longer works.

Found the answer to my second question:

Looks all good! Thanks.

Yes, Kickboxing will filter out users with bad email addresses.
And the answer to question one is 'yes'.

I've just signed up for the 7-day Jamroom trial. I have a Ning 2.0 MIni network that I want to migrate to Jamroom immediately. I'm assuming the 4G Hosted option is best for me, though I wonder if it would be more economical long-term to host it on my own site. Just want to make sure I have support to keep my tiny network running well, without a lot of technical intervention on my part.

The crucial existing functions on my site are Forum Discussions, Photos (inc. albums and tags), and Videos (from Vimeo and You Tube okay). I would love to add Groups and to add the User Photo Album module I see you offer. And being such a tiny group (10 to 50 members in an artistic instruction program), I would love to have notifications go out to all members when ANY activity occurs in the network -- new photo posted, new forum discussion, and any new comments on either. Finally, I hope preserve active and suspended user profiles.

If I purchase this import service now, can we get started right away?

My Ning network is stitchingbuddhas[dot]ning[dot]com

Thanks!

Hi - Welcome to Jamroom
Take a look at this document so as to understand what does and doesn't get imported from Ning to Jamroom - https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/documentation/ning-to-jamroom/3644/ning-2-3-to-jamroom-what-you-need-to-know - Ning do not archive photo album and tag info so that information cannot be imported. All discussions, YoyTube and Vimeo videos are importable though.
Also, by default, users cannot be notified on ALL events. They can subscribe to forum threads individually but to do what you ask would need a custom module creating. This is something we can look into if need be and quote you for.
We can likely do your import within a day or two of you buying the appropriate import service.
As for the long-term economics of running a Jamroom site, you need to consider us hosting the site (after the trial period) whereupon you'll continue to get free access to all Jamroom modules and skins, plus VIP support, or your own server whereupon you would need to make a 'one time' purchase the required modules and skins.
I'd suggest staying with Jamroom hosting for the short term so that when you know better what is involved and what modules you need, you can make the decision then.
Hope that helps
Paul

Paul my Ning site is for bloggers and article writers. Can I keep the same domain name and all the blog content that members have published? (syndicationexpressdotningdotcom). I'm reading through all the forums to get a better understanding of the site and how it will benefit me.
