Sorry to sound like such a noob, but I just installed the free version of JR and was wondering if these players embed right on the page or do they pop up in a window like the default?

Unless something has changed, the free version of Jamrom doesn't support the flash players. You'll need to install the "Power Pack" option which gives you Flash Player and Video support and also comes with free flash players.

And Jamroom is setup with the players embedded in the artist theme by default. But you can always make template code changes to have the Jamroom playlinks thoughout the site popup in the players too.

The new "Jamroom Skin Pack" comes with a Skin/Theme (Flashback) that already has builtin playlink flash player support.
