I've got an idea for a theme layout. What is the best way to proceed?

a) Top Down - Start with the config files and write code as templates?

b) Bottom Up - Lay it out as a draft html pages, then convert them to templates and config files?

Pa

It's actually pretty easy. Just make what you want into a normal html page.

Then create your header, row, and footer by hacking up the normal html file that you made.

Then build your config file and theme config. Once you're that far you will probably realize things you forgot, or want to add, something...but then it's easy because you have the base of everything built already, you just need to slip some code in...

Anyways, I realized I was overthinking it too much before... Now it's pretty easy and straight forward.

A good way to practice is to take an existing theme and hack it up. That helps you get used to the orginazational layout...

But then again...it's a lot easier to just wait for someone else to make them, then customize the heck out of them when you have some inspiration.

Cheers!

Definitely Bottom Up. It's way easier to convert a layout into a theme than the other way around.

Definitely make your design first then just fill in the blanks. i can't exactly explain it. usually i just go to the point where i want the jamrrom content to display and paste everything above it into the header and everything below it into the footer. Then i just have to modify the row tpls to fit.

^^^Told you i didnt know how to explain it. But i've gotten pretty proficient at it

To delusional: You spell "is" wrong on your home page. you forgot the "I" in the text under the sound production image on the left
