bigguy:
there you go.. I need to brush up on my lingo - "Web Services" are now "Web APIs".

The Jamroom API is a non-web API Wink

Thanks!

- Brian

Well, I don't want to beat a dead horse Smile

One of the things I was hoping for with this, was a "web API"- which I think is something I would need to build as a "module" using jamrooms "non-web API" Laughing I still consider the ranking system to be a "web API", I can pass data to it over the wire for any site and get data back (like looking at other jamroom's get_counts and seeing what kind of traffic they're "really" getting).

What I was hoping for, was a way to talk with the jamroom system as a user or administrator from a third party (read; desktop) app. I think this can be done by building a module for it, and is where I've been trying to go with it all- but now that I understand that JR has no "web" in its API, I understand that what I'm trying to do has been approached completely wrong.

I guess once in a while you just have to trip over semantics Laughing I think I'm just going to scrap what I've been working on here and start over, it will save me a lot of time now that its more clear how this works Smile

Thanks!

The Jamroom Module API was developed to make it easier to create Jamroom addons - i.e. new "features" that run in Jamroom. It wasn't designed to be a interface for other applications into Jamroom.. sorry!

Ok, well, now I'm working on a jamroom "web API" so it can be remote controlled Very Happy Then I'll come back to what I thought I was doing Smile

Now I think I'm on the right path, I was way off in no mans land.

My misunderstanding!

Thanks!

Dude, thanks a lot for your explanations.

Looking back over what I was doing, I had assumed the API was something completely what its not. I totally see where I failed to see the obvious and made all of this far more complicated then what it needs to be.

Sorry Embarassed Lets start from the beginning again- this time armed with a clue! Laughing
