So we just launched and we're looking forward, and would like to set up a conversion server in the near future.

We're hosting with GoDaddy so we would probably just move both servers to the new host.

My question is this: Jamroom's 'certified' hosts are JBServers.net and PacificHost.com.

PacificHost offers an Ultra pack for 11.95 per month (if purchased bi-annually) and offers Unlimited space and bandwidth.

JBServers' closest package (JR 100_100GB) provides [seemingly] less features and costs a bloody FORTUNE (in comparison).

Why would one choose the more expensive, less featured, host over the other?

I'm at a loss...

Conversion server should be on 2 different servers. Ask Pacific Host about that and see what their price is.

The advantage of JB Servers is they know Jamroom inside and out. They have a lot of tailored software for JR like their Shoutcast server. Also you should be looking at a smaller amount of data packages and then build up to what you need. With the cluster server you keep your artists data on the cluster which is cheaper. So your main server you want maybe 10GB-16GB and then a small package on the cluster.

Do not be fooled by hosts offering 200GB of Bandwidth/Hard Drive Space. If your site gets busy enough to use anything close to that, they will most likely ask you to go dedicated because you are using all the system resources on the shared server.
