paJRShareFree and paJRSharePlus V1.0.0 modules now in the Marketplace.

The paJRShare modules allow you to configure 'Server' and 'Clients' on your Jamroom site that can communicate with each other, either locally, or with other Jamroom sites using the 'Plus' module, in order to exchange artist, member and media information.

Full details and demos at http://paulasher.com/?t=paJRShare

Purchase and download from http://www.jamroom.net/Marketplace_Modules

Post any questions on this thread, or PM me.

Cheers
Pa

Pasher,

After all that bugging you, I'm finally about to purchase some modules now. I wanted to ask a question about the pajshare though first (in case the free one won't do it for me).

I asked about two jamroom installs sharing a database (one for a storefront with a seperate design - a la iTunes, and one for the social site) and everyone acted like I was insane-o.

I'm still interested in setting this up and I was wondering if I could use this module to have two separate sites share the artist information without adding my site to the new 'jamroom' cloud? Like a private share...

Yes - that is primarily what this module is all about. If you have two separate Jamroom installations (each with their own database), and this module installed on both of them, the sites can be configured to share artists, songs, videos, blogs etc. 'privately'. It all happens in custom ranking calls which will pull in data from the local and remote site(s) and list all the artists, songs etc. as one.

Hi,

Can this be configured to provide streaming to non-jamroom websites also ?

Thanks,

Salfas.

Having recently worked with other sites' APIs (Soundcloud, Vimeo etc.) it has occurred to me that this module does work in a similar way (ID and Secret Key validation, then a json encoded response with the requested data) and that it could be adapted into a "General Purpose Jamroom Site API".
The problem is that although many people were enthusing about this module prior to its release, and saying it was just what they wanted, its actual take up has been a big fat zero.
Do you think that there might be a valid market for a Jamroom API module as described?
Cheers
Pa

I've taken these modules out of the Marketplace.
Although there were many encouraging comments during their development, actual take up has been zero.
There were complex modules that were developed over six months ago, and I don't want to get into a situation were one might sell in the future, then I have to spend a lot of time remembering how it all worked just to support that one sale!!
This module may appear again as a Jamroom API (see post above).
Thanks
Pa

So what would be better about this 'general JR API'?

It would open sharing up to any site, not just other JR sites, but that sharing would only be one way. The only reason I mention it is because a Jamroom API has been suggested in a couple of other threads recently.
But I've concluded that there is an inherent reluctance for JR users to share their info even though it might benefit their artists by giving them more exposure. I assumed it would have been a selling point to get artists signed up on a site.
