Is there a way to show an "On Tour Picture" on the Artist's page if there is a show on the same day the page is viewed?

Example Today is 1/7/13 show and viewer is on page the same date as the show, picture would show up.
if they are on 1/6 or 1/8/13 and their is no show, picture would not be there.

Also since I am using the Nova theme. I left the 5 pictures of the random artists at the top of the Home page. I would like to add another section either above or below it for artists that have shows, using the same type..5 artists (if 5 have shows the same day).

I think that would need a module, or a custom template alteration.

but that would be a lot of work to keep current.
