Just wondering whether us Jamroom Hosts need to have any disclaimers anywhere on our web site?
I've just had one of my Users upload a 'dance' track that is full of samples from UK TV programs, as well as samples of other music, and now I'm slightly worried about copyright issues - mainly how not to be implicated by hosting this material.
I appreciate the laws in the UK and elsewhere will be different, but any thoughts anyone?
How about you Sully? Have you any disclaimer pages at CC?
Maybe when the User Login page can be customised, we can put our own Terms and Conditions there.
Cheers
Paul

I have this statement in our Acceptable Use Policy document under the 'You agree NOT to do" heading;

------
Copyright or trademark infringement: Use of the Collaboration Central service to transmit any material (by e-mail, uploading, posting or otherwise) that infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or other proprietary rights of any third party, including, but not limited to, the unauthorized copying of copyrighted material, the digitization and distribution of photographs from magazines, books, or other copyrighted sources, and the unauthorized transmittal of copyrighted software.
------

By using our site and it's associated utilities (i.e. Jamroom) users agree that we are held harmless. But, it does not discount the fact that they may in fact, have this type of material loaded and used. I cannot be a full site police force and catch all the illiegal things that may go on. But I can state that we have this as part of our site useage agreement.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Sully - I'll be looking at a few of the UK music sites to see what they do.
Cheers
