I'm curious, is there any type of a sample URL provided, of what the station URL should look like that you put in?

Or are you supposed to guess?

If they have an example URL, let me know what the example is Wink

Thanks!

I do not think this is possible but thought I would ask anyway. Is it possible for 2 live dj's to do a broadcast from different locations together? Think of it like this. DJ1 is in a remote location and is live on the air with the DJ2 in the studio.

Possible?

Sure, the "remote" DJ can set up there own shoutcast server on there laptop, and allow 1 listener.

The DJ in the studio "tunes in" the stream in winamp (or software of choice), and provides there input and controls the run of the show. The DJ in the studio will need to have the encoder installed to send the signal to your station.

You can really use any tools you can find for the "behind the scenes" stuff. Perhaps it would be easier to use skype or something for 2 way communication. The DJ in the studio then can send the final signal from there soundcard out to the world.

Anything you can imagine or make work is possible behind the scenes (anything any terrestrial station can do, you can do).

Shoutcast should be considered the final antenna for the station Wink

Hope this helps!

hmm, if those work, then you really should be able to put in the URL/Port for your shoutcast server like I showed you above- its essentially the same thing as those example URL's.

Hope this helps!

Now that the shoutcast control panel is stable and not changing frequently or being patched frequently, I am starting to build up the shoutcast Q&A in the knowledge base.

https://jbservers.net/kb.php?action=category&id=16

Feel free to let me know what needs to be covered, and what is missing so I can get the details in there!

I'm still working on video tutorials, but there are a couple minor cosmetic changes coming soon that I want to wait for.

Thanks!

Just a quick FYI- I have over 50 new features, fixes, and improvements coming down the pipe in the next few days (hopefully monday).

There was a critical issue reported today (thanks Sammy), as well as a strange genre anomoly (that I can't reproduce, but I see the issue, thanks dazed!), so we're hoping to push out an update on monday or tuesday to address these issues.

Two key features that were requested and coming:

1. Force update media library (re-index already indexed files for ID3 changes without botching already existing playlists)

2. Time zone selection to build/schedule playlists based on your time zone rather then manually offsetting the server time (can't wait for this one myself!)

Thanks!

There are 3 new options for you to set in your shoutcast control panel:

Time Zone (click "configure server")
Station Genre (click "configure server -> source")
Station Description (click "configure server -> source")

There is still a lot of work being done on the media library. The hard reset is not quite in and working yet.

*note, a restart of the server is required for the settings to "take", so make sure you restart the server!

Due to popular demand...

There is now a "log_archive" in your shoutcast FTP

The new media library is now in place. There are some tools available if yours has gone sorta funky.

speedbunny:
ze config-hur-ation file is/was configured thusly....

Code

#Shoutcast Skin Integrator
#Please configure this before uploading!

# Set your shoutcast control panel URL here
# just the domain name, as shown below

sc_cp_url = cast3.jbstream.net

# Set your shoutcast control panel Host Name
# If you are using jamroom integration, this
# will be your domain name.

sc_cp_hostname = rockaffairs.com

# Set your shoutcast control panel username here
# Remember, this is CaSe SeNsItIvE!

sc_cp_user = speedbunny

# Set your shoutcast port here

sc_cp_port = 7000

# Set your station name for the flash player

sc_cp_station_name = RAFC

It was getting the details from the shoutcast server to display in the page, but it wasn't sending the playlist to the Flashplayer.

Anything to do with password protection on the site?

ANYWAY - not a big deal because I like how it's running anyway Smile But 'flagging it'...

Thanks for doing this Deej, m'dear, very, very helpful.

I am having the same problem. Here is my code:

Code

#Shoutcast Skin Integrator
#Please configure this before uploading!

# Set your shoutcast control panel URL here
# just the domain name, as shown below

sc_cp_url = jbstream.net

# Set your shoutcast control panel Host Name
# If you are using jamroom integration, this
# will be your domain name.

sc_cp_hostname = metalbandz.com

# Set your shoutcast control panel username here
# Remember, this is CaSe SeNsItIvE!

sc_cp_user = spyrodeath

# Set your shoutcast port here

sc_cp_port = 8010

# Set your station name for the flash player

sc_cp_station_name = SDMETAL RADIO

Can't seem to figure it out.
