I have an entry of random numbers which when an item is created it will create a string of random numbers. This works fine

What is not working is when I do an update this string of random characters are being changed. I want this string of random numbers to stay as it was initially. How can I make this happen.

You will need to remove that section of php and the parts of the update sql query from the update section of your module.
