The htmlSearchBar is for providing a search area in the CP for the admin - is that what you are looking to do?

yes and no
YES for two of my modules i am looking for a way for the admin to search the module for . keywords to find specific items

NO for one of the modules I wanted for the user to search for items

Any word on what file to look at so I can add this into the modules admin area to search only the module
and is there a way to add one in for the customer area
or would I just try and throw in a normal php search bar would like to make it match with the rest of the site though as far as looks)
