it's almost as if the sound manager player is not being read or the sound manager player type is going UN-noticed

It sounds like it has not been uploaded properly.

Upload the module again and check that you have 3 files in /modules/jrSoundManager/soundmanager/swf/

Your code says that you are using the xspf_player.

Double check that you are not failing to upload, as that seems like the most likely point of failure.

that's what i'm trying to say all is uploaded to correct directory enabled in the control panel but when i use the code
Code
{jr_flash_player player_type="soundmanager" player_mode="song_hifi" band_id="5" song_id="5"}
for instance of course with a real band id and song id it doesn't seem to recognize the player type and goes to defult.
Now unless I'm not putting the players in the right directory they are supposed to be in the module directory with every thing else correct?

You just upload the whole thing to your Jamroom directory. You don't need to upload any players separately.

Can you post a link to the page where you are using this code?

There isn't any default player visible on that page either. Do you have anything extra in your htaccess file that could be messing with this?

Can you put the player onto a properly formed page so that it can be seen clearly?

The only thing I can suggest is to delete the entire module, redownload it from Jamroom.net and upload it to your Jamroom directory again.

Are you sure you are using a version with the 360 skin in it from after the 360 announcement?

For your play link not working does this sound like your usage?:
