I'm curious what you guys would think about having a monthly Jamroom seminar/gathering, via Chat system, that would allow you to ask anything you want about Jamroom- and maybe a cameo/de-briefing from Bigguy regarding Jamroom and ideas going forward, and possably one from Jamroom users like you? (anyone else got something to contribute?).

I think it would be great as a community to have a sort-of "monthly gathering" to discuss new projects and ideas, and even discuss issues about the music business in general. Or whatever comes up. It may even cover basic instructions for general administration of your website and databases, or how to work within SSH or TPL files.

Just a thought~

Worth a try.
One of the main problems for me would be that it would no doubt take place in the middle of the night for me, and this time thingy is always going to be an issue for us JR worldwide users.
Do you know the locations of the majority of users so that a good compromise can be made?

I vote for chat every Sunday.
I would not be able to make it to every chat but it would give me a choice every month for problems and questions.
I like the idea.

Yeah, I'm not sure how we're gonna work out the time zone thing. I do have an idea of Jamroom users and there time zones though, something I kinda picked up being around the forums here. All of us have a trend.

One of the most common times that the forums are packed is around 8pm to 9pm p/s/t (which is roughly between 5 and 9 AM depending on where you are in the UK *sorry, replace UK with Europe*). I usually crash and burn for the day around 5-6am to 11am. Thats my sleep time when nobody can bother me for nuthin!

I would imagin it would be a thursday friday or saturday. But fridays & saturdays people have gigs.

A "transcript" could be made available for those who could not make it.

At this point though, we need more then 4 peoples interest to make it worth the time and energy to put together something like this (and a blessing from brian would be good too!) Wink So I don't want to think to much about logistics yet Wink

Cheers!

Deej, the UK is all in one timezone, so 8PM PST would be 6AM the following day here.
So I could maybe make the effort and get up early for such a special occasion Wink Laughing

I think this would be pretty cool.. to be honest, I'd like to see it done in some type of "conference room" though... I spend so much of my day typing, I think it would be really cool if we could hear everyone's voices. Does anyone know of an online "meeting place" type application where we can all use our computer speakers and microphone to "dial in" to a conference call type of thingy? Of course it would be cool if it was free, but I'd be willing to pony up some money for it if it worked well and was something everyone would like.

Does that sound like a good idea or would everyone prefer some type of IM setup?

I actually have "voice conference" and the bandwidth for it.

The downside, is that its really hard to hear everyone talking at the same time. And usually its hard to get everyone to shut-up for a minute and let someone else talk lol!

Try out the yahoo voice chat to see what I mean lol! It would be harder to transcript as well for those who missed it.

I do like the idea though. Perhaps "voice" would be available for key speakers, and IM/chat for the community?

Cheers!

I think what we would need to do, is create something like a custom "yahoo chat room - by invitation only"... Then Jamroom users can be invited to join in, and only Jamroom users would be there.

That would allow voice and chat at someone elses expence (hey, they offer it, why not use it right?).

Ideas Question

yes - I think that would work out great. I checked out http://chat.yahoo.com but didn't see a way to create your own chat room and then "password protect" it so we could hold a private conference...

What about something like this:

http://www.freeaudioconferencing.com/index.php

Looks like you can have up to 100 people free..

Brian, use YIM to start a confrence, then you would just have to get each JamRoom users Yahoo ID if they have one, if not they would have to create one to be able for you or whoever starts the confernce to invite them in. This way you don't have to worry about passwords or usernames, just asign a time for everyone to show up, then invite them into the confernce when they logon to YIM.

Make sense Question

LOL.

This would be great for new users too. I hope we all get an invite. Unfortunately I have a few jobs so a transscript would be good if I couldn't be there. It could serve as a "note book".

Hi Folks,

I really like this idea!

I work for a mulitnational company that has over 1000 customers worldwide. Basically all user training sessions for overseas customers are done through web seminars. For this purpose we are using webex. It's a fantastic service, which will also allow you to save any seminars, so they can we accessed and watched like a movie later on.

In my opinion, webex is an awesome tool, it gives you many possibilities and great flexibility.

check out:

the downside is, that webex is definitely not the cheapest offer...
