Datnigz2002:
I second that. Maybe there should be two. 1 for day and 1 for night for the people who live on the other side of the earth. Wink

I also still have no clue what SMARTY is and what it does exactly. Rolling Eyes Could use some education on that as it seems everything is moving to SMARTY and I still have no clue what the term means and I've been around here for about 3 years. Sad

Also I just thought something that may help Brian a great deal. I came accross a program with artificial inteligence. It watches you as people ask questions and you answer them. Eventually it is able to answer the questions for you because it learns from your conversation. You can also enter things manually. I tried it myself and it works. What it doesn't know it forwards the question to you and you answer the question. From that point it will know the answer from then on. Its really kool, and it really works. I was thinking of getting it for my JAMROOM.

^ I've seen a few things with A.I. that are pretty cool...Around here though we have real people answering questions and helping people and it still isn't enough Laughing

I've pretty much dropped the idea of doing a chat thing. I think the best thing I can do for the community right now is keep beta testing and bug reporting and keep doing the monthly blog. Smarty would be a good thing to cover in a future blog. Maybe I'll do that next month, I don't have any better ideas at this point Laughing

I, for one, would appreciate that.
I admit that I don't understand Smarty and just put the dollar signs in when I have to, as in "Hmmm, that theme template didn't work as I expected. Wonder what'll happen if I put a $ inside the curly brackets? Arr - that sorted it"
I know I could RTFM, but if I had a basic 'laymans' understanding of it first, it would make it much easier, for me at least Very Happy
Cheers
Pa

Does anyone know of an online "meeting place" type application where we can all use our computer speakers and microphone to "dial in" to a conference call type of thingy? Of course it would be cool if it was free, but I'd be willing to pony up some money for it if it worked well and was something everyone would like.

Hi Folks,

I really like this idea!

I work for a mulitnational company that has over 1000 customers worldwide. Basically all user training sessions for overseas customers are done through web seminars. For this purpose we are using webex. It's a fantastic service, which will also allow you to save any seminars, so they can we accessed and watched like a movie later on.

In my opinion, webex is an awesome tool, it gives you many possibilities and great flexibility.

check out:
http://www.webex.com/

the downside is, that webex is definitely not the cheapest offer...

Its amazing to see how far WebEx came I have a copy of the software somewhere to give away since its under its old license so its not pirated. When they first started the service & software was free they were giving it away. I know it still works today I installed it & used it a couple of months ago. If I can find it Ill post it. BTW Yahoo IM sucks.

I've just got myself setup with Skype, and it looks like we can do up to 100 user "Skypecasts" - I'll just need to pick up a headset for use here, but I think it might be finally time to have a big Jamroom "get together" here really soon Wink

I think this is a great idea for this community. If I can help in any way possible let me know. I have my own dedicated server if needed.

About people being on different time zone. How about a general area then other areas for different members around the world: I.E. UK room, US room and so on.. just an idea.

Brian,

I just crossed this topic, and thought of Skype also:

http://www.skype.com/help/guides/conference.html

Great idea btw, and I agree with djmerlyn : it could be chaotic, unless we got some kind of signal and someone taking names to respect the order of questions. Maybe someone reminding us we got a few minutes left and that's all...

Cool
