I have just uploaded the new Jamroom Groovydisk module to the Jamroom 4 modules page:

http://www.jamroom.net/Marketplace_Modules

This is the first release of the module (version 1.0.0), but it should be working very well. This module allows your Jamroom artists to create a "release" in the Groovydisk game, which is launching very soon on the Apple App store. At this point the Groovydisk iOS client is complete, we have 30+ artists already loaded, and we're currently loading more artists into the game for the launch, which should happen within the next two weeks.

So we're looking for Jamroom sites that want to get their artists into the game - here's what we need:

  • You need to be running the Jamroom Mobile module - users will be able to jump to your mobile site from the client.
  • You should be running an "English" Jamroom site - future versions of Groovydisk will be multilingual, but right now only English is supported by the client.
  • There is NO NEED for you to have an iPhone/iPod or iPad, although if you do and would like access to the game shoot us an email at support@jamroom.net and we'll get you the app.
  • We're looking for high quality artists, with quality recordings of at least 3 tracks.

To make it a bit more fun, I'm going to be sending out a $100 Amazon.com Gift Card to the first site that can get 50 of their artists to successfully enter a Groovydisk - and I'll probably throw something in for the second place site as well Wink

So send us your artists! If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

Thanks!

- Brian

For the initial release Groovydisk only supports English in the client, so user's will be using English on their devices, so any artist names/songs with non-english characters may not show properly. If the artist vocal part is not in english I don't think that is a problem Wink

Hope this helps!

GroovyDisk has been submitted to the app store for approval - we're going to be going live very shortly here Wink

Special thanks to all of the beta testers and Jamroom partner sites - your help has been key to getting GroovyDisk launched!

Once we are live I'll be sending out some $$$ to the top Jamroom sites that have sent us the most artists, and you are automatically setup in the revenue sharing plan that is built in to GroovyDisk!

Thank you!

- Brian

Its a great initiative Brian!
I did something a tiny bit similar or rather a concept around the same "fondness" for special singles
and in particular the B-sides that often didnt make it on the albums.
I havent finished it though so its refreshing to see this innovation!
Great work!

Thank you for the feedback - it's really appreciated Wink

The GroovyDisk app has been live on the Apple App store for just under a week now, and is doing well. We've moved up in the Music Games rankings, and I'm readying the first update here for release next week.

If you run a Jamroom site and want to get your artists in the game, make sure and download the free GroovyDisk module:

http://www.jamroom.net/Marketplace_Modules

as the number of the players in the game increases we'll be increasing the release frequency, so the earlier you get setup the quicker your artists will be released into the game.

Also make sure and check out the Revenue sharing post in the VIP forum here too:

http://www.jamroom.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=39076

for some cool info.

Thanks!

- Brian

I'd be interested in this as I've started to promote it on my site with at least one band opting into within an hour of posting

Thanks
Gavin

Did you try a debug?

You should be able to use:

{$GD_COVER_IMAGE_URL}

Releases is the only ranking call for groovydisk at the moment.

Kyle

Is there a way I could indicate on my site if a track has been submitted? Code to display 'Groovydisk' image if submitted = yes

Have a ranking chart showing tracks (on my site) that have been submitted and position, details from 'Groovy disk'?

Would be cool way to engage people to get them involved to push tracks up the charts

Thanks
Gavin
