I can believe that it was 'started' for a few hundred, but was it in its current state when it was started or have other stuff been added over time.

I would also concur with thegreatunkown's assessment that it was programmed in india for cheap. The style sheet is inline and the source code is a mess. but if it works and the owner and users are happy with it then hey, who cares right?

There is another issue at play in that its more difficult to program one module that will work on all sites than it is to program one site to work the way you want it to.

The flip side of that is if you have to pay a programmer to build just your site, yes it might be quicker than paying that same programmer to build a module everyone can use but you also cant share the costs.

Their website is a heavily customized vbulletin based website and utilizes a couple of modified vbulletin modules like the ranking, award, store and battle system. It would probably cost a couple of thousand to create a new Jamroom battle module or modify the existing one to have all the features they have.

I created a site years ago called "Urbanflows.com" for my Son.
He was heavy into Rab Battle at the time....... Confused

Anyway............
I created the site out a a VBulletin and had someone code a Battle Mod (VB'ers call them Hacks)
At the time it was the only site that had a Custom Battle Mod for the users. The site was very popular for awhile and ran for about 5-Years before I finally shut it down due to my Son's lack of interest in running the site after he started College. But I created all kinds of Small Hacks for the board and there was a whole community of hack builders for VBulletin that was doing the same. I probibly had about about $3,000.00 invested in the whole site at the time, but I was running it on a dedicated server and I did most of the coding work myself.

VB's are fun Toys.......
But I moved to Jamroom because its a powerhouse to build on.

It has a ranking system by points and genres, users can create there own battles, it has a battle credit system for every battle voted on you gain one credit which allows you to create one battle, A battle points system win a battle get 5 points lose one lode 5 points, users are allowed to vote only for genre specific battles, user must listen to at least 60 seconds of each song before voting, user is allowed to leave comments after voting on a battle. I think this basically the bulk of it.

Oh yeah battle ranking display on the front page, all battles are 48 hours, and there is a clock display in each battle displaying the time remaining in each battle.

Thanks, it was pretty easy for me to decide what I wanted in it. I'm actually a top battle producer and have a lot of experience in battling. Also Ussher knew exactly how to execute what I wanted.

very kooooooooool....thats what i was asking for to be added into jrbattle...

users able to create there own battle and the ability to add comments..after voting....and of course the ranking system.

I'll guess...I 'll wait to see if it gets added to jrbattle anytime soon...

good luck with your site
