I have to say I found it hard to find something
I needed for a client, for there ease of use, this has most
after searching hi & low I came across this piece of great work.

Although it does a lot, I can see the potential for greater
things to come.

Have done a lot of tweaks, & still getting to grips
with adding stuff to it.
Well done stick at it.

Gizmo -

thanks for the compliment on Jamroom - I appreciate it. When I was first working on Jamroom earlier this year, I started out doing it because I wanted a replacement for mp3.com - I was taking care of several of my friends and families mp3.com sites for them, and I was really tired of waiting for everything to be "approved" before it would show up. It ended up being more work then I expected, but I wanted to make Jamroom as tweakable as possible - knowing that down the road I myself wanted many of the features that ended being in there (as well as many that I still have left to do).

Now I do have an advantage, in that developing Jamroom I have a good understanding of how it all works, and where you can tweak it, etc. However this can also be a problem in that I think some of the users of Jamroom might load it up on their server and see it as "too much work", as it does allow you to enter quite a bit of info about your band. Now if you have ever built a band website by hand then you know what "too much work" really is. Jamroom can be a bit up front to get it all "loaded up" with your stuff, but once it's there it's really meant to help you manage all of that - instead of spending time creating another "m3u" file for the new song you uploaded, then editing the HTML to include it, then editing another page to tell your fans about, etc, etc. Jamroom gives you an interface to handle all of that tedious stuff for you.

Finding the balance between ease of use, and power for those that need it is what I am striving for - so feel free to send suggestions along as they really do help.

Whew... I'll cut this off now as I realize it is getting a bit long winded... I hope you enjoy using Jamroom, and thanks again!

- Brian

Hi Brian
I'll be in & out for sure:
A few things firstly.
There must be a market for this?
I done my research & really couldn't find any! ( But still looking)
That is in php - Although any other format!

What you have achieved so far is excellent, I have yet to see
one bug.
I manage to use it fine, but I think to the average user, it may help
t make it a little user friendly ( you may scare them off) heeeee.

But like you say it does it's pupose, & does it well, once you get to grips
with it, no prob.
I think you have 2 markets to start the general, & certenly the commercial.

If somebody wanted to use Jamroom and had absolutely no knowledge of html, php or wotever, then they would struggle with JR as it is, and Brian would maybe have to generate a 'user friendly' package for 'General' users that guides them thro' all the steps, similar to the web page builder packages.
Personnally, I had a slight knowledge of html, and none of php. Within a few days of downloading JR, I had it up and running, and customised (OK - with lots of help from Brian), and I'm learning all the time!
Other 'Commercial' users, like Hux say, had it up and running instantly !!
I reckon the current target users are all going to have a bit of knowledge in the first place in order to 'want' to use something like this, so maybe address these first, get the feedback and establish the product, then consider whether it has a 'general' market.
Cheers
Pash

Hi
I think an average user would be ok.
As it is it's fairly easy to install, what I mean by user friendly.

All & everything really is ready to go, so they really wouldn't need no html
knowlege or php.
It that after install, maybe make it easier to follow, & also just make it more template friendly.
