Hello,

I tried to incorporate the chained select function in my artist profile. It seemed simple but for some reason I cannot get it to work. When I create a new chained select field, after type, do I have to enter something in the options area?

Am I missing something?

Goto Tools=>Chained Select=>Tools=>Manage and create a set of options for the chained select fields. You'll get to name this specific set of options. Then, just enter this name in the Form Designer options field.

Hi, is there any documentation or forum posts that explain the Chained Select Module? I am trying to create a locations drop down form for profiles so that I can display country, state and city information for the profile.

Or is there an easier way?

Global Config => Linked Levels 3
Tools => Manage => Enter New Set Name - Location (say)
Then start building your options in Level 0,1 &2 -
USA, Louisiana, Lafayette
USA, Louisiana, Baton Rouge
USA, Florida, Tampa
etc etc
Then in the Form Designer for profile create and update, add in a chained select field called Location

Don't seem to be working. So, for example, if Set Name is "location" all I enter in the Form Designer options field after Chained Select is "location"?

What is Chained Select with text?

Build a set of options with a set name of 'location' - levels 0, 1 and 2.
In the profile create form designer create a field profile_location_0. Set its label to 'Country' and help as appropriate. Set its type to 'chained_select'. In the options field, enter 'location'. Set it active.
Repeat for field names profile_location_1 and profile_location_2 setting their labels to 'State' and 'City' respectively.
Now, in the profile create form, you should see Country/State/City fields with the pre-created options.

Alternatively, just create the profile_location_0/1/2 fields as chained_select_and_text types.
Users can then enter their own country/state/city and the available options will grow 'organically'.

This is great, thanks. I am making progress, but for some reason the profile location for city is not showing any content. Country, and state work fine, but no matter what I try the city fields have no data. I followed the instructions as suggested, but seem to be missing something.

Any thoughts?
