The Jamroom 5 Downloads page has been updated with the latest Jamroom 5 beta:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads5

This new beta addresses issues that have come up since beta 8, as well as adds a lot of new tweaks and changes to get everything working really smooth. Our hope is this is the last beta release - barring any major issues, this will be the last beta and the next release will be our release candidate.

Changes in beta 9 include:

  • The Sitemap and Banned Items core tools have been moved out to their own modules (jrSitemap and jrBanned in the Core).
  • New "Simple Custom Forms" module (jrCustomForm) that allows you to create custom forms, then have the results either emailed to you or just stored in the DataStore (Core).
  • New Profile Forum module (jrForum) that adds a forum to your profiles (SuperPack).
  • The Video converter has been updated all around to produce much higher quality conversions, as well as give you control over the conversion priority.
  • Site Search module has been overhauled to make it easier for modules to "register" their results with the search module, as well as making it easier for the user to "drill down" in the result set.
  • A lot of updates to the FoxyCart module to show sales trends, history, performance and other cool info
  • Upgrades to the core DataStore functions to have a lot better performance on large datastores (20,000+ DS items)
  • New "Apply to All Quotas" checkbox in quota config - if checked, the quota settings will be saved to all quotas.
  • All new sprite/CSS based icons throughout - should be better performing having 1 image instead of dozens.
  • All skins updated to use module "default" templates to simplify skin development and customization (and resulting in a lot less skin templates).
  • Guestbook entries are now saved via an AJAX call to match how other profile based forms work.
  • Fixed a lot of bugs in the audio and video players related to privacy checks, plays keys, and flash/html solutions for various browsers.
  • Dozens of other tweaks and fixes.

The whole Jamroom team has put in a ton of work on this release as we're very excited to get JR5 out of beta - Jamroom's 10th anniversary is coming up in July and we're planning on a big release Smile

Upgrade Note: The skins in beta 9 have all been updated and use a much lower number of templates - instead of copying beta 9 over top of your existing skins, delete the existing skins and upload the new ones - that way old templates are no longer "seen" by the core and you'll get the correct skin layout.

Please let us know if you run into any issues in this beta - our focus is 100% on bug fixes for the release candidate and then the release, so let us know any problems you see.

Thanks everyone!

- The Jamroom Team

Also a reminder to those that may not have picked up the Jamroom 5 Super Pack, make sure and pick it up while we're still in beta:

http://www.jamroom.net/Purchase/Licenses

once the release candidate is out the Jamroom 5 super pack will no longer be available, so get it while it lasts Smile

Yes, but you wont get 26 modules and 3 skins for the price the Super Pack is at now.

That's only while its in beta.

For my part, I still have to sort out how to handle shipping fees for physical products in the jrStore module. I'll be working on that today.

Then for me its just check for bugs.

Will we be able to convert from JR 4+ to 5 when JR 5 comes out, if so has it been tested yet? or is that something that you guys will still be working on?

Yeah, thats handled by an import system. Paul is asking for people to help beta test it in this thread:

This is a ridiculous use of an announcements thread.

Why not post in the obviously right place (as opposed to the obviously wrong place)?
