Is there any easy way to modify the forms in use?

I'm creating my own skin, using elastic as my "Bible" and I notice the forms have the same look, feel and functionality as the default elastic scheme. Now I can definitely style them but if I want to change the way something operates (the submit loading gif) or add a custom item to fill a hidden input, am I forced to make a module for this?

I've always thought it would be awesome if you could include a skin template with the same name/folder structure, to replace any core template file. I believe wordpress does this...

Seems like you could have complete control this way. As a UI developer, I often get annoyed at the decisions of coders when it comes to styling/spacing/semantics.

Just my thoughts.

Yes, you can do that. It's more straightforward than the way wordpress does it, you shouldn't have any trouble at all.

Just put the jrCore template into your active skin directory and edit it.

Here is a related thread to template overrides in JR5:
http://www.jamroom.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=42440

any module template can be over-ridden like this:
"Don't like jrAudio's item_details.tpl page..... Sad "
/modules/jrAudio/templates/item_details.tpl

Steps to over-ride at skin level:
#1 copy /modules/jrAudio/templates/item_details.tpl to /skin/(current skin)/jrAudio_item_details.tpl
#2 edit it.
#3 reset the caches.

I'll get some docs up on over-riding stuff.

They're coming along and will have something to read soon.
