I have just finished uploading the latest Jamroom 5 Core release (5.0.1) to the Jamroom 5 download page:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads5

This new release addresses issues that have come up since the initial Jamroom 5.0.0 release, and it is highly recommended to upgrade (upgrade details are at the bottom of this post). There have been a number of very small tweaks and updates, as well as some larger ones that have been highlighted in the Tracker:

http://www.jamroom.net/Tracker

Some of the notable changes include:

  • Due to how the form designer was saving custom forms, it was possible to signup with an empty username or email - this has been fixed.
  • "Repair Tables" option has been added to Integrity Check
  • Profile ID now shows in Profile Browser, making it easier to find profile id's for your skin config.
  • Customizing a template in the template editor will now have the syntax checked before it is saved, preventing smarty errors from making it into a template and resulting in a "white screen".

There are several other tweaks, changes and small bug fixes so make sure and check out the Tracker.

We also have updated several modules, as well as release a couple new ones:

  • Aparna - Aparna is a very simple module that simply creates a new "cloned" module, that you can then use to create a custom form with using JR5's form designer. Aparna is a free download.
  • Documentation System - We've been busy building the new Documentation for Jamroom 5, and thought we'd release the documentation module we've been using. It's been designed to make creating and maintaining documentation super easy.
  • User Play Control - another free module, this module will track how many streams and downloads specific IP Addresses do in a month, and can block additional streams/downloads when the count exceeds a configured value.

There are new updated versions of all Jamroom bundles (Superpack, eCommerce, Media and Social) online as well:

Upgrading to Jamroom 5.0.1

If you are currently running any version of Jamroom 5, upgrading is easy:

  • Download the Jamroom 5.0.1 Core plus any modules or bundles you want to upgrade.
  • Unzip them on your local hard drive - you'll see a directory is created that is the same name as the zip file.
  • Log in as master admin on your site and navigate to the "Integrity Check" page
  • Uploads the contents that are inside the directory to your site, overwriting the existing files.
  • After you are done uploading, run the Integrity Check.
  • Run the "Reset Caches" Core tool

That's it - you should be updated. Note that upgrading like this will only need to be done for a short while - we're working on Jamroom 5.1.0 that will make these upgrades happen right within your ACP (admin control panel) so you won't have to FTP anything, or worry about if you got the files in the right place.

If you're not sure how to update your site and would like us to handle it for you, we have the Jamroom install/upgrade service for those that need it:

http://www.jamroom.net/Purchase/Services

If you run into any issues or questions, please post to the "Help" forum and we will do our best to answer.

We hope you enjoy the new release!

- Brian and the Jamroom team

I don't see any changes on the Superpack from 5.0 to 5.0.1, am I missing something?
