Hey Guys - It appears subscriptions are kind of buried right now in the foxycart tab. I will probably make some changes to bring it out in the open more but this is something that probably needs a little more focus. A user does not really need to see the "quota id" so you may want to make that only visible to admins. Also there are no details as to what the subscription offers for the user to make a logical decision.

Its not a sales interface and doesn't pretend to be.

You're totally correct to make your own sales page for selling the subscriptions that outlines what the subscription is for.

The docs for "Selling a Subscription" are already done on how to achieve this, so once they are up you will be able to see a step-by-step for a possible option and way to setup a subscription sales page.
