Hi
Been developing a JR5 version of my GigLodge site and am particularly interested in seeing how it works on smartphones and tablets with respect to its geo-location. It works fine on my iPhone.
Please visit http://giglodge.com on your devices and let me know if it gets your location ok. If so, maybe you could report back here with the device make and model?
Many Thanks
Pa

More of a db thing than the location, looking from my laptop, it gives the address of another house in the street, but the village as the next village over - it is the parish I think, but never seen as the address of houses in this village. (the next village over does have a much better pub though.)

I'll try to commandeer some mobile devices from the locals tomorrow.

looks good on my LG and my Samsung mobile.
Just like SteveX said...its pinpointing a differnet address...on my phone it shows a non existing address around the corner from where I live at in new york

Just tried on an ipad MD513B/A and it shows the location without showing the address. The site initially loads at half width and then expands to full width once location is shared.

Just looked again on macbook air, and the address no longer shows, but the site is stuck at the narrowest mobile width.

Can't think why the size should be stuck. Site caching is currently off.
So does it show no address at all?
Do you get to the 'at gig/search' buttons page? If so it means it has a latlong which is the important bit. The address is just for info.

Tried it again twice with firefox - saw different results each time - the first was the same as yesterday, fullwidth site and no buttons, the second was the narrow site with buttons no address shown.

All with macbook air:

First try:
I first get the "This application needs your location to function" page and Firefox offers the option to share my location. I then get the "GigLodge - Your Global Gig Archive" page with my address (or close to it). I don't see the search buttons etc.

Second try:
I see the narrow site with the location set at London. Search buttons etc show.
Share my location and I see the same page but with the map showing my current location.

Chrome:
Same behaviour as the second try with FF.

Safari:
Same behaviour as the second try with FF.

First try ff after agreeing to share location:

Chrome before agreeing:

Steve
The URL you need is http://giglodge.com/JR5 for the beta site.
http://giglodge.com is the original JR4 site that is fixed at 'narrow phone size' and will show London as the nearest location.
Make sure you're testing the correct site.
Thanks
Pa

Ah, that's why I see the narrow site then.

So all browsers (when looking at the correct site Embarassed ) act the same on macbook.

I've moved the development site up into http://giglodge.com now to save any confusion.
Please check it out there instead.

I can't get past the first page. All it says is...

Quote:
This application needs your location to function

I tried using iPad and PC but both display the same.

Hi Mick
Are your device location services turned on?
Atm, if the site can't get your location (your lat/long coordinates), that page is as far as it gets.
Thanks
Pa

Hi Paul,

I turned on location services for my iPad and PC. ipad shows my location wrong... it shows my neighbour's address, which has the same post code as me. Still no joy on the PC tho.

That's good. I see your address and lat/long (only logging full addresses whilst testing!!).
What PC OS and browser? Maybe it doesn't support geo-location.
Thanks
Pa

Dell Studio XPS using Windows 7 OS with Chrome browser.

I have Chrome set to ask me when my location is requested, and I set giglodge.com to 'allow'.
