What is the basic, basic function of jr5?

I'm wondering if the core is such that it's made to drive any kind of multi-user hyper-media website. In other words, not so musician-centric as Jamrooms past.

Are you still going to call it Jamroom?

Ultimately, yes, a general purpose, easy to use, highly configurable, SEOed CMS that can be used in any environment, not just music.
The free 'Core' handles user registration and login etc. as well as the admin control panel and configuration, then you add in the modules for the type of site you want it to be.

Its not going to be for sale. the core is going to be a public license. MPL. So the core is going to be free.

If you are planning on useing it to build modules, then add your name to the list to get a copy of the core and start checking it out.

Send your username and email address to support {at} jamroom.net and say "I want to test the alpha of JR5".

But there is a long way to go to get the same functionality that exists in JR4 out into modules for JR5.

So which system you want to use is really going to depend on what you want to use it for and whether your site is a production site that has customers of its own.

If we are on the list can we expect to try it out in the near future?

Difficult to give a date yet as we are only on our second alpha release!!
But the first beta release is hopefully in about 4 weeks time.

How will our current investment benefit us when moving to JR5? I have two complete unlimited licenses with all modules.
