semi related question but i added the quota terms of service module but where and how do i define the tos as the dropdown list to select thems blank
and didnt see any tools for creating them

yea so then that brings up the other idea if they sign up as a user that wants a shop i guess the power user settings should alow both profiles to be shop profiles so they set the shop up as the secondary profile and use the 1st as the personal 1

i have the signup setup to sign up into 1 of 3 quotas regular user or shop or featured shop
both shop quotas are power users with 2 profiles available

now heres what im a lil confused about
it seems that the profile u post as is always the 1 you make as you join, and the secondary profile is more of an info type profile
now im thinking that they would want the profile they create when they join to be a user profile to post under
and the secondary profile to be the shop

i set it up so they can have the second profile as a regular member
but wouldnt thatmean they would have to set up the shop on profile 1 the 1 they make when joining they can make a regular member profile but when posting in the forums (not the profile forums the main site forums) theyd be posting as the shop profile

when a user account has multiple profiles... shouldnt there be a "post as" option or a switch to profile option that doesnt just show you the profile but makes your identity that profiles

what i mean is
say
user john doe has a shop
johns shoplifters tools shop
and a profile
john doe
and just for arguments sake another profile
john smith

and he wants to comment on a profile or post in the main forums he should have an option to post as john doe or john smith or as the shop

i know jamroom didnt have a main forums so youd post in your own profile forums as the profile you are actively on (i assume)

but now moving to a ninglike structure but still alowing multiple profiles those profiles have to function as your posting identity in the main site

(was working on my site till 6 am so that might be rambling and unclear)

as it is now when u click your profiles then choose a profile it doesnt switch you to that identity it just lets you view that profile an d edit it

with multi profiles like multiple personality disorders you should be able to switch to a whole diferent identity to be posting as

itherwise as i have it now i think they will have to post as thier shop name and thats not desirable

slate/sitebuilder question

ohh really
well that i love love love then

see thats what i need i need to make a "shops" page with speciffic lists and layouts that ive been dreading even attempting cause it just feels like a monumental task but if i could do it with the sitebuilder within jrningja ..well then.. ..im blissfully happy


is there a rough eta on
that/
i mean weeks or months?

man if thats ready in weeks (no pressure) then i am 100000% confident ill have my site launched right on the schedule im hoping for

well in a way but what i mean is like working on a seperate skin like now if i want to work on slate i have to activate slate and work onit and its visible to the users
i think the on my pc test servers a great option the thing is i dont see a windows version
what ning had was a test network wich was a copy of your site but with a diferent url wich could be a subdomain like test.yoursite.com and its kinda a mirrored site and u can work on it then apply the settings from test to the live site


its alot to ask...and certainly not a priority
is there a windows way to run a jamroom test server in my pc like he suggested?

yea i didnt think so since it didnt do that in elastic

when i find a bug that confuses me i go to alotta trouble to diagnose it and figure out why its happening
thats why i love beta testing ...i dont just report bugsbut try to figure out what might be the cause

slate/sitebuilder question

i took another look at the sitebuilder and was wondering about the menu once its built would there be a menu below the main menu or would the 2 menus be sort of integrated into 1 when not in admin view
do you have any examples of a site built with the sitebuilder i can take a look at

thats what i assumed and i tested that theory and the 1st test seemed to work the group i commented in popped to the top thats when i told strumelia how i did it
but then tested again in a new group and it distant pop to the top
wich confused me

also i noticed "join group' button was still there arfter u joined a group
