yikes multiple problems

Ning To Jamroom

Strumelia:
SE I'm afraid I could never read that text, even on my big desktop screen.

Brian, on my main "Images" page, I'm seeing things looking way nicer now that you added the responsive grid layout...no problems for me. I was suggesting for what Soaring was describing, but it sounds like he is still seeing what i USED to see before your updates- with the white space to the right of each image, and just a single column of vertical images from top to bottom.

SE- are you using Ningja skin, and did you update everything? I believe Brian added the 'grid view' yesterday, to more efficiently be able to browse various pictures on the site. Here is what i see on my site:
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-zP0MGcCZcH4/VGkWnuu5xWI/AAAAAAAAEBM/og_FGpAk0S0/s912/images.jpg

not 1 of yours has a caption
your also using a narower layout while mines set to use the full screen width

1 thinjg also i notced whikle dragging my browser naarrower (i know not a proper respinsiveness test) instead of going from 6 rows to 5 then 4 1 image drops below the row

so not sure the grids fully responsive yet

he did throw it together in amazing record time though!
im uber pleased with that
just needs a lil tweaking to perfection

the grid centered gracefully reducing rows as screen width changes ..or i mean colums within rows and standardized space for captions and names

no heres a screenshot of whst i mean
arrow 1 shows the more space on the right then left when zooming out its even more exagerated as this is the max width per row this is default zoom if the entire bolock of rows ..the grid.. was centered within the gallery container it would hbe beautiful

arrows 2-4 show that the bottom space changes wether its just a name, or a name and caption or a name and caption that wraps to a 2nd line

my suggestion would be a set height for the grid item
if the name came above the caption thered be no need to be concerned it would vanish if tye excess caption pushed it below the max height

alternately instead of image br link to title br link to njame
if each was in a div or table cell then that caption can have a set height wether a caption exists or wether its too big to fit wont matter the space for its there..and set in stone unchangable so long captions tuncate and nonexistent ones stil have the space there so the grid looks even top to bottom

nono i see a grid 5 wide maybe 6 i dunno but that grids nit centered within the available space so theres a space to the right not to the left..its just off ballance and u know im a perfectionist down to the pixel so when its slightly off it bothers me

its just the grid itself should be centered within the grid container so when the screen size changes theres a ballance of space on each side of the grid wether the row has 5 3 or 1 item

heres what i mean however my transparency is seyt really low i forget how low maybe like 2.3 even for strums site a 75% or higher opacity will make it easy to read but with just enough of the image visible to vbe seen

ps\
i didnt mean transparent text! i meant like niungs profile badges text version had a background opacity option
so the div dontaining the title could overlay ontop of the image with a black background
then you can select an opacity to that overlay...background not text if you want the image seen throgh it still

ofcourge u could also have a set height for the caption feild with anoverflow hidden

im talking the main gallery grid the grids left justified so theres a empty space at the right at default zoom
then the image name or caption..most of wich dont have anything might be truncated but several wrap to a new line so it just makes the grid look messy especialy once i add a lil styling

i just spent an hour trying to find the template that affects that so i could see if i could center it at least

wich brings me to a suggestion;...a feature request

simular to firebug that alows u to see the html and css a script that loads when logged in as admin so catches right clicks and alows you to view a "what templates this"
or in developer tools an option that turns on a template overlay so items afected by a particular template have an outline around them and a lil text at the top sayintg module + skin + template file + and tells you where to look to edit something
as it is its hard to guess wenther its the skin or a module then within the module wich 1 of a sozen files to try (oddviosly the names give you a hint but itsnot enough )

i cannot figure out wich template would be the 1 that would afect the grid

if there were a temokate id tool for developers it would make editing and developing soooooo much easier and faster
or even if there were just a class name that gave a hint
imean if u saw a class name like gallerygrid on that block_content it would be easy to spot in a template without having to type here i am or help im lost in every template that has a block_content that might contain the grid

ningja footer inconsistencies

Ning To Jamroom

on profile pages ..and not sure where else but the footer inherits the html background color instead of having the wrapper background

front page and most others have the wrapper background despite the footer being outside the wrapper
(i want the background full page maybe i should not use the wrapper background upload thing and instead apply it to body..)
but thought u should know about the inconsistency

oh and since im a bug hunter by nature i think we should have a bug section here cause the questions are filling up with issues
would be better if new ningsters would be able to just read through and get questions answered instead of having all these issues

i think i pay closer attentiion to every detail of my page then most so i tend to spot bugs everyone else misses
