and cant u use the seemless module to custom creater a activity feed like just yiur folowers activity or just shop sales or just the music thats most listened to or whatever

ok you got me1 step closer i got the image displayed in the page within the divi wanted it as a bacground of (i know i pasted the code there as a test just to see if i can get ittio display) however trying to ise it as a background in an inline style wont work as it adds the

ill start off by saying this is my 1st attempt at using smarty to edit a template
i know it will get easier with practice but with a lil searching code comparing and braindead sleep deprived detective work (almost didnt want to give up trying i was so close )
i created a image upload field in the profile customization form and gave it the name profile_cover (note added profile tweaks already for profile background and logo)
now calling in the image made my head pound since id never worked with smarty before but peice by peice it started to come together
1st i was thinking i had to edit the templates with the template button on the profile customization thingy but no divs matched up so wentto the skin itself and found the right template tried multiple codes that gave screwy results finaly a lil searching and comparing and figuring out how it afected the url structure i managed to get this far

but hey pretty damn proud of myself for figuring out as much as i did so far
(granted i did snag code from a forum post to deconstruct and reconstruct)


when u tell me the last peice of the puzzle can you also explain how to find it
i hate asking newb questions and want to learn this as i build the site
(poking around i did get a lil sence ofhow modules are made but will have to really study it when ive slept a bit)

in fact that will be my 1st project tomorow ..learn the smarty basics

so where oh where can i figure out where this came from /_v=1415322228

oh and right niw jhust trying to get tye image to display at all but i really want it as a background so can this be added to a inline style

tinymce in comments and chat module development questions

im very new to jr and slowly figuring it out
but had 2 big questions
1 can you add the tiny mce editor to ..well to this text field as an example basicly any fieild a users going to use to create or reply to or comment on forums blogs photos videos music the works id like a tiny mce text editor in

the other thing is once my sites ready i will need to develop a native chat module that alows all logged in users to chat (they can opt to log out of chat while still be logged into site).. possibly a private instant message option and a "followers only" room

ive been watching the vids on the yt channel and i think what i needs a form feild that takes the chat input a smarty object to output it to the chat display module ...although i dont yet know how to code that i think i can figure it out its the listeners that im not so clear on how do you set up a listener to listen for chat input and display it in the chat module

(i know my knowledge isnt up to speed to develop this module yet but slowly begining to understand how it might work)

was there a jr 4 chat that i could maybe poke around in and try to get an idea how it would work?

i know feel like such a newb now haha ..whole new system to learn ..but hey its only been 3 days and think i almost understand it

module creation form creator and smarty interaction questions (re building a chat)

been watching your vids wich u move too fast to see what codes youer using etc u might want to explain it for codeaphobics a lil more
but im getting a general understanding of it...i think

now my questions are
could you use a custom form feild say "chat_input" (that maybe even can allow embed codes smileys pictures etc) create a chat output module using smarty codes to pull in the chat input
i think thats pretty basic and can be done what im unsure of is the listeners are there listenersthat can be told to listen for cghat input then output it
can you create listeners as an end useer (havent gotten that far)

and am i kinda understabnding how it all functions corectly


ive offered on ning 5 test sites on my server only 2 small ones for importing ning data and developing a site around that as demos
and 3 more for module development if any creators are up to the challenge of creating a chat and i was also thinking a ning3 bundle that alowed easy cloning to create multiple instabces of each feature anywhere ..as a magor site feature..on profiles in groups etc

we have some great coders on creators..but even if they dont get involved it looks easy enough that once my sites up i can bumble my way through it and figure it out and maybe do it myself

oh i had a question what are those developer tools u are using in your vids

yea whenm it was ning and voluntary i was proud to leave utthere when it was forced i wasnt so happy but not as agressivly angry as some got

i mean u gotta understand the desire to promote the biz anhd grow

well the poweered by is on the skins ive seen by default here but isnt against the tos to remove it (i did although wouldnt mind it there suporting jr either)

that tracker script u mentions actualy part of comscotre that rates the value of yoir sites (supposedly it takes the powered by glam into consideration so being a part of such a huge network ads value) so it wsas essential to the ning ads wich neverr really got going (glam ads in the past had paid outrageously high and bloggers would earn ten grand a month off it) but thge ning adds paid sooooo low it wass worthless i tested during beta and i think i earned a whole 25 cents maybe 11 cents in the month or 2 i had it on

the problem being that there were 3 instances of the comscore tracker and they were the single most slowing things on the site
i think it was aboyt 1/4 to 1/3 of the load time was those scripts

that was what was logical but not where it was
i had to go to a members profile click modify..then images and thats where i found the default profile image

i knew i wasnt crazy..i knew i added 1
it just wasnt anywhere that made sence to me at the time
i must have seen it while playing with my profile the 1st day
wich i was working on it till i heard everyone heading off to school and work..so 7 or 8 am...
was a lil tired by then


strum check out the dashboard click options select the max number of rows and columns then click any empty box and see all the cool info u can add and im adssumming there will be alot more when the imports done and the site live but i love how u can monitor server loads and all kinds of stuff right from there


tho this is alil learning curve and things arent so easy as ning its far more powerful
but u gotta think that a dragster takes more skill to drive then a tricycle (although i was always a unicycle guy that was my only transportation for years andid do hundreds of miles at a time on trips by unicycle) but point is the more powerful something is the more complicated and the more skill u need /..not that you cant use it without any at all but having some idea whats going on behind the scenese will help u get the most out of it
when i 1st sawthe quotas and form builder i figured wiuldnt ever need to touch them and just use defaults but now that i have a clue what u can do with them i realize they add alotta power

not that i investigated it yet but i have a feelingu can add a location name to the form builder use that fields name in the google maps module and have a map and location to stores that have a brick and mortar store not just a virtual 1
could maybe even ..dreamming i have no idea..but build like the members maps we used to have in the profile questions they add the address and 2 checkboxes 1 to include on profile 1 to add to members maps then the google map would show the locations of all members so u canj see whos near u and whatnot

again not sure thats possible but those form feilds quotas ajnd the smarty listse and such like seemless u can build alotta customization into it

like for u i think the seemless u could have a list that shows instructors and students online based on skill levels so ppl know who to go to with questions etc (ofcourse in a small community where everyone knows eachother thats pointless just predicting for growth)
