Simple HTML and CSS usage in Jamroom

Design and Skin Customization

I have tried adding HTML and CSS code to the templates be nothing happens or they do not load at all - only get error pages.
I cannot find any information or tutorials about working with Smarty templates. There is a lot of information about creating templates, but I can find no tutorials or information on how to go about adding HTML and CSS code into them.
So I'm at a total loss with this.

douglas:

I don't see any reason why your http://regal-network.com/ncn site couldn't be created using Jamroom.

Well if it's possible I'd certainly like to try... but it looks like a very big learning curve for me.

I have tried using the Slate Site Builder using widgets ( http://regal-network.com/jam/) but that really won't accomplish what I'm after. I have also downloaded the Blank Skin, but I'm not exactly sure where to add code in the templates. Do I just paste my code in-between the italics tags, where it has "(index.tpl file)"?

{jrCore_include template="header.tpl"}

(index.tpl file)

{jrCore_include template="footer.tpl"}

Simple HTML and CSS usage in Jamroom

Design and Skin Customization

@b360, @douglas, Thanks for the replies. I have already watch the tutorial videos on Udemy.com, and appreciated your comments. I'm not seeing, as yet, any Jamroom sites which reflect the modern style of website which I'd like to achieve; but I do hope it will be possible.

Thanks anyway.

Simple HTML and CSS usage in Jamroom

Design and Skin Customization

I've been creating simple websites using Dreamweaver (using HTML and CSS) for sometime, and am currently developing such @ http://regal-network.com/ncn

I have recently set up a Jamroom site which I am now using for member profiles, and have linked this to the HTML site (above).

Of course I would like to have these two integrated into a Jamroom site and I am wondering if it's at all possible without loosing the freedom that HTML and CSS offer in website creation (as in the example given).

Thank you.

Ning To Jamroom

I am assuming this is only for Ning 2.0 sites and not for Ning 3.0

SteveX,

"You probably need to set different permissions on that file:
/modules/jrCore/tools/ffmpeg "

What permissions do I need - any idea?

Not hosted on a Mac Server, but do use a Mac Desktop, but doubt there's any connection there?

Thanks

How can I show more than there (3) profiles on the front of the site

Using Jamroom

At present the site is only showing three profiles on the site front, even though there are four.
How can I change this to show all profiles?

Thank you.

Brian,

I set up another site and run the Site Builder on it and it runs faster, although I am unable to change the logo image (logo.png ) at present.

I have this system error:
FFMpeg binary executable fail modules/jrCore/tools/ffmpeg is not functioning properly

Brian,

I managed to install the modules and the Slate Site Builder skin, but the whole thing runs really slow, and it seemed to me that not everything worked as it should.

I'll no doubt try it again once it's out of beta.

Thanks again for your help.
