Steve is right. Charts would be the best solution for this and will probably be the reason we won't make additional modules that do the same things.
With charts you can set a date range, so for example, you could show the most viewed items over the last 3 days for audio, video or whatever. Or you could base it on likes or comments or whatever field applies.

If we do a trending, it will likely be based on hashtags. What you're asking for is a custom feed. Or even a timeline. We have skins that do timelines.

Make sure you haven't disabled them in the config form. They should be showing.
