test site migrating 3.0 ning site

Ning To Jamroom

"Hello Ning - Just wondering if you can let us have the code you've been developing for the past two years so that we can adapt it and take away your customers?"

You never know - Stranger things have happened lol ;-)

test site migrating 3.0 ning site

Ning To Jamroom

If a CSV file of Ning3 member names, emails and other details is available that could be imported to a JR site. But as for then skimming sites for content, I can see it fraught with problems, complexities, and endless support issues, so don't want to go there.

Ning To Jamroom

Hi SE - Thanks for your thoughts on this. Skimming Ning3 sites for content that can be imported to JR is a nice idea (assuming that there is consistency in the tags that surround blocks of content within the html source to make this possible!!) but is flawed right from the start as far as Jamroom is concerned. The first thing needed in JR is profiles and their users and to do that, the minimum that would need to be skimmed is a name and an email. Names are available but I don't think that even Ning are publishing their members' email addresses anywhere on a public site!!

turning "follower" module on and off...question

Using Jamroom

Just disabling the module will not delete anything and all followers will be there when re-enabled.
I guess that no notes will be able to be sent as they won't get a list of followers (because the module is disabled).

Photo Gallery Request

This could be done by adding the checkbox with the form designer and modifying the gallery templates to suit.

Ning Signup questions

Ning To Jamroom

Have you clicked on the signup questions button in the NingImport Tools section? This explodes all the profile question/answer arrays and puts all the answers in the user datastore.
It may take a minute or so to run the first time after an import.

Aparna Suggestions

Suggestions

Hi Gary - Thanks for those. The search could be added to the default templates but not sure about the 'post later' option as that is getting a bit specific and Aparna meant to be a general purpose tool to create a base module so that you can then use the form designer and template editor to make it what you want.
Unless I'm mis-understanding what you suggest?
