Changing what shows in the Groups Tab on profile pages

Ning To Jamroom

Not sure where I said that - I think it might have been about followers!!
Nonetheless - What exactly do you want showing in the profile sidebar?

Problems with profiles on fresh import

Ning To Jamroom

Interesting!!
We haven't tried JR with Nginx but assumed that it should be ok, but that obviously isn't the case.
Is there any reason you want to use Nginx or are you ok with Apache2?

Trying To Sort Videos By Tags

Using Jamroom

Tags are saved on the datastore as a comma seperated list so try -

search1="video_tags LIKE %educational%"

jrCore_list template reference

Using Jamroom

Rename the template in the active skin folder to jrAudio_item_list_name.tpl and it should work.

Configuring a group for my forum

Installation and Configuration

You need to first create a profile group that is to be used for the forum, then enter it into the NingImport configuration.

I'd suggest creating a profile called 'Community' then adding a group called 'Forum' to that profile.

To create the profile -
ACP=> Profiles=> User Profiles=> Tools=> Create Profile
Allocate 'admin' as the profile user.
(Prior to doing this you might want to create a quota just for this profile with just Groups enabled)
Then, as admin, goto http://yoursite.com/community and create the group called 'Forum'.
Whilst there, get the profile ID by clicking on the update (gear wheel) and looking at the ID in the URL.
Now go back to NIngImport config and enter the profile ID in the 'Site Forum Profile ID' field and 'Forum' (no quotes) in the Group Forum field.

How much will it REALLY cost?

Ning To Jamroom

derrickhand300:
Please correct me if I am wrong...but the 3rd party modules ( non jamroom developer modules) like stuff developed by UJ will still cost you in the marketplace...at least that's what I have noticed..

Correct. It's only our modules and skins that are free to use when hosting with us.

Its only 4PM where I am ;-)
Just to be clear, you add the 'Community'profile on the Jamroom site. Not sure if you have added it to Ning and then redownloaded the archive.

But ideally, when downloading the archive you need to 'freeze' the Ning site so that no new profiles or content are created there during the transition to Jamroom. Don't know Ning that well so not sure if that is possible?

Installation and Configuration

When importing 'global discussions' from a Ning archive you have two options.

1) Import them to the Jamroom Forum module
2) Import them to a Jamroom Group

The differences are that the forum module provides more flexibility for managing categories, topics and posts but user posts on topics are 'flat', ie. one after the other by time posted, whereas group discxussion comments can optionally be 'threaded'.

Whichever you choose, in Jamroom, all forums and groups (as well as all other module items) belong to a profile, so I would suggest that prior to import, you create a profile called (say) 'Community'. Then you can configure the import process to allocate 'global' discussion to this profile's forum or group.

Hope that helps

Problems with profiles on fresh import

Ning To Jamroom

The problem is that even /steve-lynn-ashby and /edward-lyster give a 404 error even though they are valid profiles and their datastore entries look good.
