Script in index.tpl generating a syntax error

Ning To Jamroom

Try putting it inside literal smarty tags -
{literal}<script type="text/javascript">broadstreet.zone(#####, {responsive: true});</script>{/literal}
The JR smarty parser might be seeing those curly brackets and trying to parse them.

going live on new domain in hours need clarification on new base url tool

Ning To Jamroom

I've just had a look at your server and just want to be sure with what you are doing.

Your Arvixe server has the domain http://www.thechocolatelife.info and that points to the public_html folder.
Currently, your JR install is in the sub-folder /thechocolatelife which is why you access it at http://www.thechocolatelife.info/thechocolatelife
You want http://thechocolatelife.com to point to your Jamroom install.
Correct?
OK - You already have thechocolatelife.com setup as an add-on domain pointing to the /thechocolatelife folder so yes, set the thechocolatelife.com DNSs to point to your Arvixe server, edit the config file to -
$_conf['jrCore_base_url'] = 'http://www.thechocolatelife.com';
Delete the contents of the /data/cache folder and you should be good to go.

Another thing. As you are going live, please, for the moment, refrain from using the jrNingImport send emails tool. Mass emails sent from Jamroom should trickle out at a low rate so as not to trigger any 'anti-spam' alarms but we have recent found an issue that can cause them to be sent faster than intended, causing Arvixe alarms to be triggered. We will hopefully soon have a fix for that, so please wait for advice here when its ok to use that tool.
Thanks

Share your Performance Check Results

Announcements

I think Strumelia was asking if tests should actually be run when the server is busy.
If so, no. This tool is testing server performance directly so more accurate results are obtained when the server can give 100% of its time, and not have to break off to serve any site visitors.

Any chance the dynamic wall is going to be in the market

Off Topic

Sorry that this module is taking its time. I have been working on it but keep getting distracted by other JR issues and projects.
One issue I am having with it though is trying to make it 'generic' and installable with no, or very few template modifications needed. Ideally, the module needs to be installed and enabled, then it will then listen for any jrAction list calls replacing them with the 'Live Wall' instead.
I will get there - give me time.
Thanks

Events - Adding Multiple Dates

Suggestions

Strumelia:
IMHO... if there's a 3 day weekend festival, and a member clicks to see the calendar view...it just kinda is expected that Fri-Sun will be highlighted on the calendar...not just Friday? I'm thinking this shouldn't have to require code tweaking- that 90% of people would want and expect it on a calender events feature. (ok i duck and run for cover now...)

Everything on this thread is (easily) doable by using the form designer and tweaking templates.
When JR5 was being developed it was our intention to keep modules as simple as possible but allow users to take them wherever they wanted via the Form Designer, templates and the ACP editors. We didn't want any module to be too specific out-of-the-box. What works for some users doesn't necessarily work for others.

What I'll do here is put together a "How To" that shows how to do these things. There is already one about exposing the recurring event features of this module so I'll probably add to that. This will also hopefully introduce new users to the delights of the Form Designer, ACP Editors and Templates :-)

Forum

Jamroom Developers

Just to add that the updated jrNingImport module, when I get it done hopefully over the next few days, will have the option to either import non-grouped discussions to the forum module, as it does now, or to an especially created 'forum group', as described above.
The choice is yours :-)

Event calendar feature requests

Ning To Jamroom

Use the form designer.
Add a checkbox for 'All Day' and a date/time field for 'end date/time'.

I'm gonna blow a gasket . . . If Arvixe Doesn't Get This Fixed Today

Installation and Configuration

It should be just a case of creating an add-on domain in cPanel, moving JR to the sub-folder then setting your domain's DNS to point to Arvixe.
Do you want me to take a look? Email your Arvixe and JR logins and the domains you are trying to setup if so to support [at] jam room [dot] net if so.

Can I Non Techie Do This?

Ning To Jamroom

Hi Lora - Welcome to Jamroom

Just to add to what Michael said, Jamroom will work for you 'out of the box'. We have a skin, NIngja, specifically designed for Ningsters that will show all imported Ning content and provide Ning functionality. All you would need to do is change the logo in the header to one that represents your site (and that can be done within the 'Control Panel'), and you could be up and running. See a demo of Ningja here - http://demo.jamroom.net/jrNingja
You can then, though its not essential, customise the site, by changing colours, layout, font size etc.etc. This is what Strumelia, Soaring and a few others are doing, but I say again, its not necessary and you don't need to get 'techie' at all.

We have a document on the import process - https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/documentation/ning2jamroom - so you could follow this and do it yourself, but even if that looks too daunting for you, we offer services to do it for you (note that you would still need to download your archive from Ning, then upload it to your new Jamroom server yourself).
