How to show different artist name?

Using Jamroom

Quote: Will it show in the player?
It can do. Players are also built by templates (look in the jrAudio or jrVideo template folders) so your custom field could be shown there instead of 'profile_name'

Ning To Jamroom

There is a profile_active checkbox that only admins can see. If it is unchecked the profile (and all profile items) effectively disappear from the site.
When an account is validated, by whatever method selected, profile_active is set automatically. What you might be asking for is an email validation option that doesn't check profile_active so that admin can then look over the new account and make it active if ok, or maybe delete it.
Not sure if this is practical or desirable atm but will bring this thread to Brian's attention for comment.
Thanks

How to show different artist name?

Using Jamroom

If you use the form designer to add in a field, say 'audio_alternative_artist', you need to modify the template, so basically, add {$item.audio_alternative_artist} to the template where you want it to show.

importing all (excepyt members) seems to get stuck in a loop

Ning To Jamroom

Hi Strumelia
First of all, make sure you have the latest jrNingImport module installed. There have been a few fixes of late.
Always make sure the members are imported first, whether its a first time import or a delete/create import. Everything else 'belongs' to a member so if for any reason a member is missing, none of his/her items will be imported.
Personally, I prefer to import one set of items at a time and keep an eye on the progress to see if there are any issues, but if you want to set them all up in one go and let it run, that's ok, it just means that there is a bigger progress modal window to look through in case of errors.

I'm not seeing an issue with this on my reference imported Ning site.

domain mapped to profile?

Ning To Jamroom

Hi Bree
What Ning like (or other) features are you looking for? The chances are they can be done somehow.

Migrating From Ning - Can Large Sites Successfully Migrate?

Installation and Configuration

Hi - That looks an interesting site :-)
Yes, Jamroom is HTML5 compliant and all imported videos will play on Apple devices.
What I suggest you do is get your hosting set up on AWS (but note what Brian has said about AWS above) and install the free Jamroom Core there. You'll also need to export your Ning archive from your site, then upload it to a folder alongside the Jamroom install. See the Ning Import docs (link above) about this.
Out of the box, the free Jamroom Core will be able to import all your members and their blogs. To import videos, photos and other Ning items appropriate Jamroom modules then need to be installed. When you get to that stage, let me know and I'll install a couple for you to try out.
Let us know if you need any help with any of the above.
