domain mapped to profile?

Ning To Jamroom

Hi Strumelia
Thanks again for your comments, and I pretty well agree with what you are saying.
We've had years of experience using and developing Jamroom targeted at 'developers' who are not afraid to dive into the templates and configuration files and tweak away, and when Ken advised us of the potential Ning market, we created the import tool and, maybe naively, expected all those users to have the same capabilities. Whilst we are please that Soaring, Isleander, John and others have picked up on this and embracing the challenge, it is now clear that the majority of migrants will want Jamroom to work out-of-the-box (something Ken has been telling me for ages and is finally sinking in ;-) ).
So to this end Douglas is developing the Ningja skin and Michael the Site Builder and we hope to have them both complete by the new year, in plenty of time before Ning forces NIng3 on everybody (March 2015?).
What I want to do then is apply the Ning specific features from Ningja to two or three of our others standard skins so that there will be a few to choose from at that point.

You thought about starting another thread with your suggestions and comments on N2JR development. That is a very good idea, and if you (all) can keep it to one topic per thread, and keep it 'on-topic', it really helps us to keep track of things and to work more efficiently.

Thanks Again
Paul

Also, if using the html option, you can add in a 'value' parameter to override the default "-,1,2,3,4,5", ie -

value="-;Great;Not Bad;OK;Poor;Terrible"

how to accomplish these

Ning To Jamroom

Just to add to what Michael is saying, I may have confused you on your site by giving Admin his own quota and importing all Ning members to another profile thereby giving the impression that Admin needs his own quota. This is not the case. I did it just to keep them separate. They could have all been lumped in with admin in the same quota and admin would still be admin, and imported Ning members would not have had admin privileges.

well heres the thing
i want them to be able to sign up for several options or combos of options
1 a craft shop that sells real goods
2 a digital shop that sells digital goods like music
3 a digital shop that also sells bundles
4 a shop that sells both real and digital goods
5 a shiop that sells real digital and bundles
Profiles can only be in one quota, so combinations of the above will need to be different quotas.

What you describe is relatively straightforward. We can help you with that when it comes to it.

Search Error

Using Jamroom

Sorry - I should have posted here last night (but you were in good company with Steve ;-) )
I did have a look around your site last night and ran the IC, cleared caches etc. The jrNingPage module is long gone from your site so am a bit puzzled as to why this is happening.
I'll have another dig around this morning.

Smiley Support

Using Jamroom

If you have the module installed and configured as above, and quotas enabled for it, smileys will show in comment text.

You could add the following code to the jrGallery item_detail.tpl with the ACP editor -

{jrCore_module_function function="jrRating_form" type="star" module="jrGallery" index="1" item_id=$item._item_id current=$item.gallery_rating_1_average_count|default:0 votes=$item.gallery_rating_1_count|default:0}

I guess we left it out because there was no obvious place for it, like in other item detail views, and because there is the opportunity to rate in the gallery view.

soaringeagle:
what boout my shops page question

Just create a signup quota called 'shop' then users can have the choice when registering. Also, with the latest Core, logged in users can switch between signup quotas themselves.
To automatically switch users after several days you would need a custom module that listens for the 'daily' event and checks all profile _created values changing their profile_quota_id value accordingly.

Ning To Jamroom

Are the groups for the new fields set to "All Users (including logged out)"?

Smiley Support

Using Jamroom

Before the module will work you need to either configure the default set of smileys, or upload your own.
From the Admin Control Panel click on Site, then Smiley Support, Tools, Configure Smileys, Defaults.
You'll see a table of smileys and the text that creates them. You can edit these and add more to them if need be.

Remove alternative Quotas on Sign up

Ning To Jamroom

In the ACP select User Profiles, then the quota tab.
Work through the quotas disabling the signup option for those quotas you don't want showing on the signup page.
