Ning To Jamroom

Profiles and Users, although linked, have their own image.
On your profile page, click on the gear wheel (usually top right). You are now in the profile update view where you can upload a photo. Now click on the User Account tab. Upload the user image there.

We don't have a chat module at the moment, but checkout SteveX's Together module. I think that has a chat feature - https://www.jamroom.net/ultrajam/documentation/modules/1416/together

I haven't seen any 'messages' in any of the Ning archives I've worked with, only comments on the various Ning items.

Can you post a link to your gallery that's not advancing?

Send your URL, FTP and Jamroom logins to support[at]jamroom[dot]net and I'll put the Ning specific modules plus a couple of others for you to play with and hopefully get the hang of Jamroom and realise its potential, not just as an alternative platform to Ning.

That could could still be done the way I outlined above by specifying two custom select fields, cities and pubs/churches/whatever.

Hi Tim
Is this for your 'UK Cities' site?
As you say, Galleries can only be added to by the gallery creator, but they can be displayed globally.
What you would need to do is add a custom field (see the Form Designer docs.) to the gallery create form that would be a select field with all the profile names that are in fact city names. Then, when creating a gallery, a user could name in something like "Here are my photos of Leicester" and select Leicester from the custom field.
Then on the site front page you could search for 'Leicester' and all user galleries/photos tagged in this way would be displayed.

At the moment, yes. From what I understand, there is as yet no Ning3 archiving tool. When there is, we will take a look at it and see what we can do. Hopefully, Ning3 archives will be in the same format as Ning2, in which case it'll likely be the same process as importing a Ning2 site.

By default, the Elastic skin is 'require_image' for front page profiles.

Take a read of the docs. here - https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/documentation/ning2jamroom - so that you have an understanding of the Ning2Jamroom process, then follow the docs. up to where you have uploaded your Ning archive to your server. Then get back to us with your Jamroom site URL, FTP and Jamroom logins (email them to support[at]jamroom[dot]net), then we'll do the rest. When its done you can take a look around the new site and decide then if you want to stick with us here at Jamroom
