How to set up and use the Timeline module effectively?

Using Jamroom

Twitter model: you blab whatever you like and whoever finds that interesting follows you so they get updated whenever you blab. Just because they follow you doesnt mean you have to follow them.

Facebook model: each must agree to receive what the other person blabs so its a back and forth relationship.

RSS: unless you know what it is already, you probably dont need it. Kind of like email.

How to set up and use the Timeline module effectively?

Using Jamroom

1. when I come to YOUR profile and view YOUR timeline, I only see posts YOU have made. When I go to MY timeline I see all the posts of people I am following, ( like twitter )

you can use an RSS feed in an RSS feed reader if you wanted to get a feed of it. ex ning users like RSS feeds for various things. I don't use them so much.

timeline feeds can be pulled in the normal way, using {jrCore_list} and whatever parameters you want to set up.

My first instinct is to guess the cache system. I went to your page in the screenshot and it now has:
glacier iceberg ice
  arctic frozen snow
  blue abstract texture
  blue absrtact texture
  abstract
showing as tags.

Is this Possible? - Email notification if a link added to a photo

Using Jamroom

What paul said. All I did was turn on the Media Url Scanner because it was the simplest way to get what you already had: "when an artist paints the picture, they add the link to the picture in a text area".

With the Media URL Scanner turned on that link was enhanced.

The next evolution would be INSTEAD of having that link pasted into a text area, a module that allowed the artist to SELECT the picture it came from during the creation form. THAT would allow the artist to be notified when it was created.

As it is right now it is possible to add a listener that searches for a URL in the text, but it would be fragile and probably send out false positives because it would need to do a lot of determining to figure out if the link in the text area was a link to an original image, or just any old other regular link. Think that way would require constant maintenance to keep it working.

JrEmbed

Using Jamroom

What the player looks like will be determined by the skin. If your skin uses a single player rather than one with the track listed in it then that will show.

You can change what shows in by overriding the item_embed.tpl file for the audio module if you want embed to be different to the other audio players.

Using a global $_post in a listener

Jamroom Developers

 global $_post;
is common to add to functions. also $_user and $_conf are often accessed in this way.

So long as $_user['user_active_profile_id'] and $_post['id'] are validated to be there and are what you are expecting them to be that solution looks fine to me.

The jrDiscussion module uses threaded comments. If your site is slowing down, its probably the cause. Due to it using multiple search="" conditions we have to use a JOIN and that causes a performance hit. Its on the board for a redesign.

Flickr module copyright symbol doesn't display right in Marketplace

Using Jamroom

so the question becomes, why are they different.

--edit--
I can search for 'emoji'
site.com/marketplace/browse/module?search_string=emoji

and get the Flickr result, but in the result, the emoji shows as a TM

--edit edit--
All that !!emoji!! stuff is in a 2 functions jrCore_strip_emoji() and jrCore_replace_emoji()

Seems like your jrCore_replace_emoji() is not working for whatever reason.
