Installation and Configuration

There is an error. We need to figure out what that error is.

If you have firebug installed, you can open the console and see if there are any javascript errors there that give more indication of what the error is.

If you can FTP into the site, jamroom's error logs are at:
/data/logs

There might be an indication of what the error is in there.

Failing that,via FTP try renaming
/repair.php.html

to
/repair.php

then open it in a browser. That will run the integrity check.

You also might try deleting the contents of:
/data/cache/*

Synchronising user name and profile name

Ning To Jamroom

Its going to be like that to start with. If from there then they change it to something else, then it will be different.

Sure you could make a module to update the profile image each time the user image was updated.
Or you could update the skin to use just the profile image or just the user image everywhere.

Seams like over-kill to block the small percentage of users who would change their profile/user name/image, but its an option.

If you wanted to go the module route, then Events and listeners on the profile update or user account update would be a place to start.

songs wont show up in music charts

Jamroom Developers

Your music charts have some items in them now. Is there still a problem?

If you plan to use ajax, its necessary to choose either the www or non-www version.

There's a discussion on that here:

"How to redirect www to non-www"

How can I "like" an item in JR.net?

Using Jamroom

There is the Members Sites directory here:

"Showcase -> Members Sites"
https://www.jamroom.net/showcase/sites

That is comprised of all sites that are added to the SITES tab of your account here on jamroom.net, for you it would be:

https://www.jamroom.net/researchcooperative/mysites

Add a site to there and it will appear in the Members Sites Directory.

Configuring the Homepage with SiteBuilder

Using Jamroom

@zachary-moonshine There are color selector icons to choose a color from in the STYLE editor. If you plan on doing a lot of customization, then better than the STYLE editor for the skins are normal web development techniques.

The STYLE editor is there for users who don't want to learn/don't know web dev stuff. The web dev stuff gives you a lot more control. (and in my opinion are easier)

Here's a video on how I reckon is the best way to approach finding things to change CSS issue:
Using firebug with the STYLE tab

Possible playlist bug for admins only?

Using Jamroom

To turn off the playlist button for uploaded videos too, go to where you can see the button somewhere like:
your-site.com/SOME ARTIST/video

Then click on the button on the far right that looks like level meters (for one of the videos that has the 'add to playlist button').

That will show you all the buttons associated with that content type and show the:
"User Playlists | add to playlist button" -> MODIFY

Uncheck ACTIVE and save and the button will no longer appear.

Profile Layouts

Design and Skin Customization

tips.... mmm.

* Get the slider working with static images you know exits first so you can know that the slider works before trying to put dynamic content into it.

* I can see from the names of the fields profile_coverimage, profile_coverimage2, profile_coverimage3 that you plan to have 3 input fields, one for each image. Consider having 1 that allows multiple uploads. It might be harder to understand at first, but if you can get that going you will have 1 more trick up your sleeve if you're interested. (if you are interested, i can help. get the slider working first, then we can figure out how to get the images in.)

test site migrating 3.0 ning site

Ning To Jamroom

One comparison of operating systems that I read somewhere really like went something like:
Quote: "Windows thinks you don't know what your doing, so tries to protect you from yourself. Linux thinks you do know what your doing so will not say anything when you do something really dumb."

On linux its possible to wipe out the entire operating system and everything on it with a one line command and hit enter.

Both of the philosophies can become really frustrating when they get in between what you have and where you want to go.

Jamroom has its way of doing things and if that fits with the way you want to build things stuff is easy.

The errors in the image are different to the one posted above.

I've not seen that error before, I'll have to investigate. Thanks.
