Advice for new users (members) about access to multiple profiles

Using Jamroom

1. They can only have multiple profiles IF the admin of that site decides they can. If they can then the admin would need to tell them that, perhaps in the "How this site works" page.

2. "each profile type" not sure what that means.

3. no. they will have a "Your Profiles" button in the menu at the top of the page where they can see their profiles and go to them. Once there they can edit it like normal. No need to change.

"Jamroom Lists" -- and access to the JR Glossary

Suggestions

For new users it doesnt exist because there are many skins, many ways to setup jamroom. The admin creates the site from jamroom, then instructs the users of the site on how it all works. (how it works will be different depending on how its set up.)

"Jamroom Lists" -- and access to the JR Glossary

Suggestions

Can tell from that sentence, quota still isn't sitting right,

Try to think: "The allotted quota of modules for this profile includes: (list of modules here)"

This profile has these modules:
* jrAuido
* jrVideo
* jrForum

So that profile can upload videos, upload audio, and host a forum.

a simple visual map can be had here:

"Concepts the admin user needs to know"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/getting-started/2167/concepts-the-admin-user-needs-to-know

Hows that?

Forum Mising

Using Jamroom

Bit of confusion in there.

* The {jrCore_list} function is to create lists of things, like the latest audio files uploaded or the newest videos, its not what your after if you want to see the forum.

The forum will appear on a Profile. So to make it appear on a profile, that profile needs to be allowed to use the Forum module.

Go to the forum module in the ACP:
ACP -> PROFILES -> PROFILE FORUM -> QUOTA CONFIG

You will see these options:
* Allow Profile Forum
* Can Post to Forums
* file attachments
* allow signature
* allow bbcode signature

To allow users in this profile to have a forum on their profile, check the "Allow Profile Forum" checkbox. This will put a FORUM tab on their profile and allow them to configure it.

If you only want 1 profile to have a forum put it in its own quota, like this one here the-jamroom-network is allowed a forum.

Event Search

Using Jamroom

Shouldn't need to set it up, it should just work.

your-site.com/event

The search box on the right.

"Jamroom Lists" -- and access to the JR Glossary

Suggestions

researchcooperative:...but what specfically is DataStore?.....

.... that is one of the few terms that are in the Glossary ;)

Quote: The word datatstore refers to a special type of database that modules may have. It stores information related to items that users have added to their profile.

When a user uploads an audio file to their profile it gets stored in the datastore belonging to the jrAudio module.

Each entry is stored in KEY -> VALUE pairs.

Hows that?

Usign Site Builder features instead of default item_list.tpl

Using Jamroom

I can see what your saying. Its a good idea, the system is Site Builder system is just not stable enough for this yet.

It would require the user to not only install the module, but also update the system with an export of what the module designer wanted the top page to look like. If it was handled by an event listener that installed the default setup when the module was installed, its a great idea.

I just think its a bit ahead of its time yet. There currently is no system in place that checks for modules to have default setups for Site Builder so each module creator would need to do the setup themselves. It would be better to include this as a default system to make it real easy on module creators. Its just not there yet.

I know about it now though, so will try to get something in in a future release. Great idea. :)

Site Builder Panels - Image Tab

Using Jamroom

Thanks for this. This bug has been fixed in the core 5.2.28.

It was just the image displaying on that page, the code in the next column is working correctly, so if you want to use those images, use the smarty code in the second column to display them and they will display correctly.

Cheers. :)
