How Are You Editing Your Files On FTP?

Jamroom Hosting

This is the course designed for developers wanting to extend stuff:

"Developers guide to customizing Jamroom"
https://www.udemy.com/developers-guide-to-customizing-jamroom

It doesn't cover every possible thing but it should allow developers to understand how to get going.

On iPad drop down menus no longer function

Ning To Jamroom

here's that text:
Quote: If you want to alter a modules .tpl file, clone the skin and prefix it like this:

"Altering a modules template"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/development/1051/altering-a-modules-template

So the only files you should be messing around with are:
* Modules that you have created
* Anything in your cloned skin

There are ways to alter the way modules other people have made work that will keep them working. For that check out the:

"Events and Listeners"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/development/1011/events-and-listeners

Yeah, don't alter any code directly in a module you haven't build because it will get lost when the module developer updates that module. There are other ways to change stuff so it doesn't break.

Do I need to "set nameservers" ?

Jamroom Hosting

FTP settings has this as the ? help info:
Quote: If the system is unable to write directly to the module and skin directories, you can enter your FTP Information here and the system will attempt to install items via FTP.

Jamroom servers are probably not going to need this info because they're setup to run jamroom. If you get an error from something saying its not connecting then might need to go back and look at entering the settings.

MSkin was created by N8Flex and is no longer supported:
https://www.jamroom.net/n8flex

If you'd like to send us an email at support at jamroom.net we can swap you over to our premium skins instead. (The offer was posted on N8Flex's profile for a while but has gone now.)

davej56:....Okay, the Pro Jam skin gave me the "Home" menu option that I wanted, and a whole lot more. If I could just figure out what goes into that big "Latest News" black hole, then I'm on my way....

Some of the bigger skins that designers have put a lot of features into come with "Notes". You can find the notes for the projam skin on the page you use to activate it:

ACP -> SKINS -> PROJAM -> INFO -> "Click to View Skin Notes"

That will have the info you need to fix that black hole.

Quote: ......ProJam5 includes news and informational pages which are based on the Jamroom blog system, these pages use category names so that the blogs are routed to the correct pages in the template.

When you create blogs for the Index Site Tabs, Welcome Section and News Pages, you need to set the correct category for the blogs to show up in the correct place.

Welcome Section & Index Site News, Site Blog and About Tabs:

About Us Tab Category - about
Site Blog Tab Category - blog
Site News Tab Category - news
Welcome Box Category - welcome

News Pages:

Latest News Category - latest
Featured News Category - featured
Exclusive News Category - exclusive

Modify or create a new blog and in the Blog Category make sure to enter one of the above categories.

Design and Skin Customization

Looking real nice. The only things that stood out as 'very bright' were on the profile pages, the user is online's green and the yellow of the star rating marks.

Well done. (take any design advice from me warily, I'm not good at graphic design and colours.)

Its not working like yours is here, I'd like to take a look at it if I could. Could you send me the admin login info to support at jamroom.net and I'll login and take a look.

It shouldn't be doing that.

Yeah, you have content there, that should be showing up. I'll see if I can re-produce it here. Try changing the skin to SLATE to see if the content shows up then. If the content does show up on slate, then its a skin related issue.

It doesn't feel like a skin related issue though, so I'll look into it and get back to you.

Embed Local Media Blank And No Page Layout Control

Ning To Jamroom

Kos:So are they going to repair the panels....

No they, just the us, you can say 'you'.

soaringeagle:...here is the cause of the embed issue
"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://stockbuz2.net/embed/tabs/__ajax=1".....

500 is a server issue. somethings wrong with the server. Probably a setting or something. Need to figure out what that is, because jamroom wont work if the server doesn't work.

Did you just fix that up SE? If so thanks.

Embed Local Media Blank And No Page Layout Control

Ning To Jamroom

1.) If you disable panels, then yes, panels will not work. Page Layout is part of the Panels system.

2.) try searching for something. By default it will show only your stuff, if you dont have an active profile, there will be no stuff to show. Might be that you need to un-check the option "profile media only" to get that search working.

ACP -> FORMS -> EDITOR EMBEDDED MEDIA -> GLOBAL CONFIG -> Profile Media Only

Quote:
If this option is checked, then only media from the active profile will show in the TinyMCE Embed popup. If unchecked, then all media system wide (that is not private) will be available
