just went looking for the template code to comment out and see that it has a config option to hide it.
So its even easier.
on:
YOUR-SITE.com/core/skin_admin/global/skin=jrNova

there is an option for "Hide Ads".
check that checkbox and save and the ads go away.

you can do it by altering the template .tpl file to remove that section either via FTP and the file system or via the template editor in the admin section.
Probably the TEMPLATE tab in the SKINS section of the ACP is the easiest.

I suspect if you went to /the-jamroom-network/ 's profile and searched in their forum you would find that result.
If you search in /backstage/ 's forum there might not be any results for the search term.
the search for the forum will search the forum of the profile that your on's.
