Actually, exactly the opposite.

Smarty does make things simple, but you still need to get those things right. The alternative is wasting hours until realising that you have made a typo or an incorrect assumption.

Suggestions

I'd like links to other niche forums to appear on the the-jamroom-network/forum main page, preferably showing if there has been recent activity.

So a link to "Genosis has new posts since your last visit", "Jamroom Cloud has new posts since your last visit", etc.

The the-jamroom-network/forum page is always my first port of call, I rarely hit the /index home page.

What I mean is, when you are looking for the trash icon and it doesn't appear, try refreshing your browser using the "reload" button. Then try hovering again. Does it appear then?

If you have fields which aren't being searched, you can add those fields to the search by registering the module feature.

Check out the jrDocs_get_search_items function to see how that works. (there will be similar in other modules in case you don't have access to jrDocs).

Nice jamroom.net rejig Brian! And I hope the new subscription option works as well for you as it does for the joomla/wordpress skin/module vendor sites.

One thing I must say about the new jamroom.net home page though, I really don't like it when any website overrides the expected behaviour of my browser:
I can't control-click on the Jamroom Cloud link to open it in a new tab (expected behaviour). I can for a link like "Welcome to the new Jamroom.net!", that works as expected, but not the links to the various profiles - they offer different options in my FF context menu and unexpected behaviour if I behave normally (Firefox).

And when I cmd-click the Jamroom Cloud link the browser goes to the cloud page in the same tab (unexpected behaviour), whilst when I do the same for the Welcome link it opens in a new tab (expected behaviour).
