If it still doesn't work once you have verified that you have the htaccess file in place you'll need to get in touch with ampps support and see if they can help.
Then make sure you are copying the htaccess file as well. It's an invisible file by default on mac, so google a way to make that visible.
Alternatively, rename the downloaded and unzipped jamroom directory to "jamroom" and place that in your Applications/AMPPS/www directory overwriting what you have in there.
Not sure then, but if you have a working ampps you should be able to download the jamroom core files and place them in your /Applications/AMPPS/www/jamroom directory (no need to use ftp), create the database using phpmyadmin and then run the installer.
When clicking through to a "comment" action item or a "following" action item, the page still shows "View this item:" with nothing after it to click on. Should that text be hidden for "comment" actions and "following" actions?
Also, the title of a feed item is identical to the description of the feed item, which looks a bit weird in "comment" actions:
What are you doing when you get that? (what are the actions you performed just before this error)
What does it say in your server error log?
Do you have other sites working on your ampps server? If not, you will need to get your ampps setup working before installing a jamroom on it.

Sorry - I'm a bit green here. The code to pull in the link would be:
Reload users playlist Page
or
Reload users album Page
Can you help me define the link code.
Many Thanks.
